Great, Dave.

Thanks, Janet. We can build on this good information.

Yes, I vacillated on adding the unofficial Div 16 for Multiflowering, because those tulips also belong to various other "official" Divisions, and I thought it might be confusing.

Since Multiflowering is not an official division, I felt it could be added under a "Special Classification" category (drop down menu).

Regarding the so-called "accepted" Tulip cultivar names. There are so many Cultivar names in the trade that are being sold that I think we should simply have everything that is documented on our database. Is that the consensus?

I can do all these things except for the special case you made for:

Awards: (with check boxes for the following and 2 check boxes next to each choice, one for KAVB, one for RHS.

There is no mechanism here for doing a checkbox and then another checkbox within (this would basically be nested checkboxes).

Given that, how do you want to handle the Awards?

KAVB is the taxonomic holder for Tulipa .. that might help you decide.

Dave,
I have modified the Awards to show the 2 presenters in the title with only 1 check box per award.

I think this should be sufficient Award information.

Hi Janet, I was just thinking about you!

Yes, I was in touch with the Taxonomic Librarian at KAVB in Hillegom. He was most helpful with the awards list.

I like all this detail and I know you do, too, but for our purposes, people won't know all this and will only be concerned with whether the tulip received an award, I think.

What are your thoughts, Dave and Janet?

We could do this
KAVB - AGM - Award of Garden Merit
RHS - AGM - Award of Garden Merit
KAVB - AM - Award of Merit
RHS - AM - Award of Merit , etc

I'm not going to be able to research this or be very helpful at the moment on making a decision on this. Whatever you (and Janet if she likes) decide is what I'll put in for you.

Question .. how does an AGM or AM differ if it's from the RHS or KAVB?

I know the RHS does trials to assess and give awards to many different types of plants, so I'm wondering if KAVB use the merits given by the RHS? It would appear so, and if not, who does the awards not assessed by the RHS?

can we have a blank line next to each award for the years to be typed in?Like this ____________________________________________?

Glad you found it, Janet.
The KAVB contact had sent me the list of awards I listed which states that the 2 presenters of them are RHS and KAVB.
So we can have them both listed.....

I modified the above post to reflect that.

I can make it so that when an award is checked off, a text area field appears below it.
