Very pretty Paul. I has more coral to it than my Helen Elizabeth. And yours has a more ruffles of the petals than mine.

And notice the difference in the center color. Here is a link to a photo of Coral Reef. I do believe that is what you have. http://www.bluestoneperennials...

It's difficult to say Paul, Coral Reef can vary a little in colour and some have dark blotches where others are not so dark, but yours has some cut edge to the petals which I haven't seen in Coral Reef.

I'll see what I can find, I know there are some with a cut edge.

Papaver orientale 'Forncett Summer' is an old one but has more of a cut edge.. I wonder if yours has been grown from seed from this one, it comes ver close.

Pink Ruffles is a possibility, although most you see are more deeply cut.

How old is the plant? I recognise the varieties I have mentioned as they have been around for some time. I found one which was in trials in 2009, Papaver orientale ‘Double Pleasure’. It has only a little cut edge.

I found just about all the varieties there are on a Dutch site, not the best photo of Double Pleasure but the shape looks to fit and the Alberta trials should have a true photo.

I got my Coral Reef from T&M years ago, they are all similar to each other and said to come quite true from seed and mine looks like all the others I see, that isn't listed on the Dutch site I guess because it isn't from cultivated plant material.

It looks like either Double Pleasure or Pink Ruffles but as you see, the latter is normally very well cut and ruffled.

Thank you for your efforts. I have another nice picture of it in a large clump which I will try to find this afternoon. It is in a friends garden but he doesn't remember. I guess most people aren't concerned with varieties like we are.

The other thing with o. poppies is different companies put names to the same poppy so it is getting very hard to ID them anymore, at least for me.

I haven't seen that happen here with Papaver varieties Dee, the photos on the Dutch site (who supply plugs of many plants as growers) will have the correct photos. I have seen most of them offered over the years and they have been true to name. There might be instances of people growing from seed from a named variety but I think that wouldn' work so well as I have tried it and they cross with others like crazy. In the case of Coral Reef by T&M I would think they are under controlled pollination.
