Yes it stays outside all winter. Smiling

Similar thing happens to my aeonium arboreum as it makes its lovely color changes thru the seasons:
Photo on April 2010

Photo on June 2011; Have moved the plant in a shadier side of the garden, so it is not so red, just on the edges

My Echeveria Paul Bunyan does the same showy color change too, and its ridges are either smooth, then bumpy

Tarev, once again I have proposed your images for the database. The differences are so striking that it will be great to see the plant in its various guises, depending on light etc.

Tarev, what is the beautiful lime green plant with the blushed red back leaves on it? Is that one plant that spread by runners, or did you plant a bunch of this plant in one pot?

I am thinking I could let me 'tender' succulents outside on my covered deck. Seems they are fairly hardy if they don't get a bunch of rain/water.
I am excited about trying this.
I am particularly fond of your aeonium arboreum. Lovey dubby

Hi Alan, are you referring to the ones that looks like jelly beans? Those are Sedum rubrotinctum or jelly bean sedum. If you are referring to the other one which looks like little fingers on the left side, those are Crassula Ovata Gollum or trumpet jade. I just planted all of them in this one big pot.

Lynn, just be careful with the temperature okay, especially if there is a hard freeze warning, it may kill them..I have just been stubborn and did not cover any of my outdoor succulents, and thankfully they are surviving though sometimes under stress. Luckily we still hit the low 60's during the daytime, so it gives them much needed heat, but we still get the low 30's, dry and no rain this year.

That's just amazing, the 2nd picture/season is my vary favorite, although the almost all burgundy tickles my fancy too. I've never seen anything remotely close to being like that for sale in any of our nurseries here Sad

My goal hopefully is to see the aeonium arboreum yield some of its very yellow blooms!!! I wonder how old it should get before it does it...in the meantime, just going to admire flowering ones from other gardens Smiling

Alan I have seen them at places like Home Depot. They are usually just a single rosette in a small pot. http://www.thesucculentgarden....

Anybody know how long it takes to get from the single rosette size to one like Tarev's?

If I base it on the smallest one that came out of this group of aeoniums since I got it from my aunt in June 2009, the height of this smallest one right now is 4 inches, and the tallest so far from this group is at 25 inches height, I'd say about 10 to 12 years at 2 inches per year of growth. Big Grin I hope my math is right..not my favorite Rolling on the floor laughing

But it's like planting a tree, if you don't plant it, it will never grow and get tall. Green Grin!
