With the way the weather has been this winter, only a handful of really cold days, the daylilies think it's bloom season!! I have a scape coming up on OLIVE BAILEY LANGDON (Munson 1974). It's one of the daylilies I kept from my old place for the daylily shows. It has an awesome show scape. It needs to stop because the shows aren't until May.

Michele - OBL was one of my first daylilies - also the first one to rebloom for me.

If you look at the bottom of the scape, is the scape coming out between the leaves, or beside it? Curious if it is a leftover rebloom scape or an early bloom scape. Or, maybe in FL you don't get leftover rebloom like we do in the north.

With us being in the mid 70s a lot of things may get confused, I know I am but Kathleen says its not the weather. I still grow nine Munsons in the display area, eight tets and one dip.

Hahaha Fred!

Michele, that is so neat though!

Heck, I am worried about confused plants here too. We might not be in the 70's, but the 40's will cause some problems too, especially if we get frigid later on

On the other hand, as long as my summer temps are moderate, I am not really complaining about this mild winter so far ~Jan

Juli - I'll have to look and see where it is coming from. I would think we don't get leftover rebloom here, but I could be wrong.

Fred - Kathleen is right, it's not the weather!! Green Grin!

Juli, I looked and it's coming out of the middle of the fan.

Juli, is there a way to know if the scape is a leftover rebloom?
We had three sets of rebloom on several plants and I don't
know if they really rebloomed that many times or if we won't
see any spring blooms. Been wondering about that.

The scapes came up on the side.

Shirley, take a look at this thread where we discuss pre-bloom vs. rebloom.
The thread "Pre-bloom and Instant Rebloom - with photos" in Daylilies forum

Michele, that is cool that it is blooming so early!

Ah Michele, maybe mine are just mixed up too. They are new
plants purchased this past season, and they came from Florida. Big Grin

The last scape, which I thought was rebloom in September, was on the
outside of the fan.

Juli, I have had some pre-bloomers in some years, such as Destined to See in this zone. Just wasn't sure it was a pre-bloom at the time, but suspected it was due to the early timing of the bloom.

Did not notice where the scapes were positioned though.

Since the new plants came from a hotter zone, I don't know what to
expect in the spring. Maybe they will acclimate during the winter.
