While looking at 'Caesar's Brother' in the DB I got to thinking it is a great example of a Siberian Iris interspecific cross. Blooms held well above foliage from I. sibirica with red spathe from I. sanguinea.

Does CB branch like sibirica as well?

I wouldn't know. Most people with a chance to see other siberians in this area don't grow it. It has become so mixed with others over the years that it is not certain to be CB.
Withall the other siberians, many a mix of the 2 species we grow different things. Currier Mc
ewan in Maine started N
E siberians & others have carried on.

It's believed Caesars Bro is so mixed up in commerce that no one knows if they have the right one or not, or even if one exists.

But, yes. From pics of the original one it appears they do.

Me too, LOL.

There is an iris Caesar also. I've been trying to get as many of the old ones as I can, but I've yet to score that one.

I have a very, very old Siberian growing in my garden. It was here already for many years when my parents bought this house when I was around eight years old and now at 64 it is still here in exactly the same spots. So I know it is old. It is purple and I wouldn't be surprised if it is 'Caesar's Brother'
