Hi Celeste!!!! Hi Poly!!!! nice to see you girls too!!!!

I am telling you, I have this love/fear attitude towards begonias... I am so afraid of becoming addicted to them... I really can't become addicted because I don't have room to bring them inside... only my bedroom window to have them in the winter - and I dont want them to die outside... oh well....

I have 2 strawberry ones... I love them... and of course I could not resist and got 2 new ones at Trader Joes last week... what can I do???? hopeless!!!!

Ah, I actually have some cuttings in water right now ... Allison what should I do ??? wait until is spring to plant them??? it has tons of new roots but I am afraid to kill it...

once you get them in soil.. make sure the first few weeks you keep them moist.. sometimes it's hard to transition from water to soil

Allison, look at the roots... do I need stronger roots than that??? I am in no hurry to plant it into soil... I just don't want to wait too long and loose the plant...
Can you believe that is the plant that detached from the tuber???? oh I was so mad!

Here is my window winter garden today...
Pretty succulents from my 2nd trip to San Francisco to see Zuzu & Sue in 2009 I think! I got them at Lone Pines ... oh I miss that nursery... wish I had that weather so I could grow all those succulents!

strawberry begonia - love this plant

this is a plant (xtmas cactus) that refuses to die!

Do you guys find that plastic containers are better inside the house in the winter than clay or ceramic pots??? this is the 2nd year that I notice that my plants struggle less inside the house if they are in plastic than ceraminc or clay ... maybe is just me...

plastic holds the moisture better.. I think.. I like plastic or the coated Styrofoam pots for inside

I would wait a tad bit longer for those roots to get bigger.. so if any break off there will be some backups

there are lots of places on the internet and local that have it.. but the stuff I have now came from a farm that closed down and he sold the lot of coir to me.. but every year there is a vendor at the flower show that sells it.. might be your cheapest price if you can find any at an event like that

I have amazon prime and have free shipping (was worth it for us) but be careful with the shipping costs if you buy online.. some places will double the fee .. the prime is worth it for something like this

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004D441ZO/

the block will expand to just about the size of a peat bale .. so it's not easy to do inside.. I either break pieces off and expand a small amount or do the whole thing in a big tub.. or they have the smaller bricks that would be easier to deal with inside
