This is a topic that is fun to post. So many of us feed the birds and we have such a novel collection of different feeders .I have a pretty good squirril proof one and one that isnt so great.
I put really nice trailmix in the squirrilproof one and not so great stuff in the one the squirrils take a week to empty.
This is my great feeder

Not really supposed to use bird feeders around here they are considered a bear attractant . You can be fined for feeding wildlife. I think if you have one it has to be around 15 feet up in the air.

Holicow. I know New York staters arent supposed to feed bears or deer. Fines and jail time if you get caught.

I get a number of birds but the starlings are driving many of the smaller brids away. Guess they got to eat too. My hummer was here today as well. Not sure what kind. Had a red head.

Battery is down on my camera but I have 2 smaller Yankee feeders, 1 open tray feeder that is hanging, a suet feeder for woodpeckers with the tail prop and another sm wire feeder.

Has anyone used a hunting blind to get close for good shots ?

Since we are on the subject of birds...have you guys seen this video? This is a hoot!!! The darn bird is sledding on a jar lid down a roof. And the bird doesn't sled down the roof on the jar lid just once, it keeps doing it!!

I live in a suburb where we see about 10 or more all day.I think they have territories.
They head to the city that is divided by a river about 5 miles from here. The city is saddly going to eleminate many of the more than 20,000.crows that roost by the river. They make a terrible mess of the sidewalks and public places, as bad as pidgeons.

Crows are one of my favorite birds! I put out corn or sometimes cat/dog food for them during the winter and nesting time. The wait and for me every morning and then come in and eat. They will even land on my feeder platforms to get sunflower seeds!

This is from last summer

We have crows here too. I love to listen to the babies fighting in the summer, and watch the moms feeding them on the lawn. There is a flock of about 10.

We have not had a feeder up for the last 2 winters. We really miss it. I am thinking of asking my neighbor (strong guy! does landscaping! Thumbs up ) to put up another post and put our feeder up. I don't think the ground is frozen so hard that he could not do it - it has been a mild winter.

What recommendations do you have for not having coons etc. get into feeder? I used to have a 4x4 post and we had the bottom 5 feet wrapped with old metal printing plates so they could not climb it. Now, I don't work at the printing company any more, so don't have access to them.

We live in the northern part of South Carolina in a rural area. We have several birdfeeders and in the last week we have had 5 male cardinals and numerous female cardinals (now, all of these at the same time!!!), chickadees, robins, and a male bluebird (scouting out his own personal bluebird box).
