Sharon has a great idea for a February challenge.

Windchimes - just in time for the March winds Thumbs up

Some of her suggestions:

They can be made from found objects, shells, kitchen forks and spoons, hollow tubing, small terra cotta pots, leftover jingle bells, beads, anything that makes a tone when hit together.

And let's not forget my redneck windchimes - tin cans Rolling on the floor laughing

Great idea Sharon! Thank you!

No mailing, just make a wind chime.

Bubbles has offered a prize - there will need to be a judge as well. If any of you know of anyone that is not a member of Garden Art and willing to judge????

I've wanted to create a wind chime, but never got going on it. Maybe I will give it a try. I got a couple of them from another site for winning a bingo, guess that doesn't count. Green Grin!

We are finally getting a little rain, kind of like a sprinkle now and then. We sure can use it. My plants will be happy for a while.

Very cold here, but no rain or snow. I'm glad you're getting rain, Pegi, if that's what you need. What I really need is sunshine and lots of it!!

I saw some chimes made by using old computer CDs as the base to hang 'trinkets' from. The CD had been spray painted and had holes drilled into it around the edges to thread the fishing line through then it was strung through a bead then tied. So the top of the CD had beads covering the drilled holes and the line knots didn't show. The trinkets that hung from it were different lengths of fishing line that held a few clear glass beads then at the bottom were bigger chunks of colored but clear glass, or maybe plastic. It didn't make much noise, only tinkled when they swayed in the wind.

Another I saw was made from old spoons and forks. The fork at the top hung downward with its prongs bent outward, one way then the other, and from the prongs the lines were tied. I thought the lines would get too tangled like that, not enough space between them because fork prongs are not very long. The other thing I noticed about that one is that the spoons and forks had been hammered till they were flat. It sounded pretty, but like I said, seems like they'd tangle around each other. I'll bet you could find cheap silverware at the dollar store that would bend and hammer easily. Maybe you could also drill holes through the handles for the line.

I kinda like Vic's tin can idea Green Grin!
