Hi Daylily folks,
I am new to Hemerocallis culture; I've just recently ordered seeds from a couple of different sources-- and I've found that one batch of seeds from an eBay seller are very tiny compared to the other 3 sets of seeds I've received. In fact, they are approximately 1/10th the size of the average size of all the other seeds I've gotten.
I contacted the seller, and he claimed they were daylily seeds from a "smaller" variety, and said I should google 'daylily seeds' pictures to assure myself they were genuine. Well I did, and I'm definitely not assured. None of the dozens of photos showed any such tiny seeds.
So, I'm asking those folks here-- is it possible they are daylily seeds? I know a picture would help, but these are so tiny I dare say they won't be much use. Suffice to say, they are very much smaller than the typical daylily seeds? Anyone have an opinion?
I did notice that one person put negative feedback for daylily seeds for this chap, but didn't mention the size, only that they weren't black as they should be. Mine are black, but very much different than the typical daylily seed.

A picture would help even if they are tiny. Put some next to a coin for the picture so that we can get an idea of the size comparison.

When you say tiny, do you mean as small as a radish seed? A mustard seed? Can you give something to compare the size to? Daylily seeds come in all sizes. I would guess that by saying average size, you mean the size associated with tetraploids, as tets are what most people grow.
Seeds from diploid daylilies can range from the size of a tet seed to very small seed from miniatures. Seeds from a miniature diploid daylily would probably look tiny compared to seeds from an extra-large tetraploid. Without a photo of your seeds, guessing would be of little use.

I have had some very tiny seeds from miniature dips this year, I assumed that it was due to the incessant rain we had in Britain this year (practically non-stop monsoon-like weather). Maybe the seller experienced similar weather conditions.

It is my first year trying to get seeds so I am very inexperienced but I have had a large variation in seed size.

These Autumn King seeds are the second smallest seeds that I harvested this year.

Can't take a pic of mine as I have just put them in pots for winter sowing but they were similar size to mouse droppings, if that helps!
