I was at a plant trade show yesterday and boy - are there Sansevieria everywhere!! I think they are seriously being pushed, I saw quite a few different ones. The weirdest trend is the braided S. cylindrica, I borrowed a picture from one of the vendors to show:

Mind you, Costa plants (a VERY large grower who supplies all your Lowes etc.) proclaimed 2012 the Year of the Hibiscus!

oh boy ~ don't tell me we are going through that plant faze again.
It seems like a rare form of plant torture to me. The only braiding I'll do is my hair ~ lol

What else did you see at the trades show?

Well I still have to digest all the information. A lot of it was of no interest (like pretty sleeves to put pots in etc.) But Sansevierias were everywhere.
I got a wholesaler of Succulents to donate an awesome 8 ft tall Euphorbia drupifera for the Naples Botanical Garden Big Grin It was fun getting it in the truck.....

They do indeed! Of course the (in)famous 'Lucky Bamboo' has been subject to this kind of 'torture' for years. They've just turned their attention to another plant! Shrug!

They braid ficus trees a lot here, especially the variegated ones. I have that sansevieria but I don't think I'll be braiding it anytime soon.
