I ordered from both Country Boy Gardens and Hosta's Direct last year and I was unhappy with both. Both have low prices, but their plants are much smaller than other online Hosta nurseries. I believe they are selling first year TC plants. That means their Hosta are at least one year behind those sold by Hallson, Made in the Shade, Naylor Creek or In the Country Garden and Gifts. Yes the prices are lower at CB and HL, but you will have to wait much longer to get a mature plant. I'm not saying that you shouldn't use these nurseries, just be aware of what you are getting for the low prices.

Thanks for the input Steve. I would much rather buy big if I can, but if you have a lot on your wish list it might not be possible. I ordered several liners from Yahoo coop and they were 3.00 a piece for these one year liners and I was pointing out that I got two year liners for 2.00 a piece. Let me see if I can find the picture I took of the liners for comparison. I have ordered from Hallson's, they are my favorite and Naylor Creek. Green Grin!

I used Bentley gardens when they were on eBay. Now I think they do co-ops? Anyway I was quite pleased especially with the packing. I bought three second year plants for around 6.00 a piece.' Band of gold', 'Dream queen' and 'Cherish'. These were purchased 06-20-11.
Thumb of 2012-02-05/virginiarose/21bbc0-This was cherish after I potted it. Thumbs up

Bentley Gardens is the same company as Hosta Liners and Streaked Hostas.com. They are located in Georgia. I ordered from Hosta Liners last year, ordering their 4" pot "Market Ready" plants and their plants performed well for me. If you live in the Great White North (zone 5) like I do, then be prepared for your plants to arrive early. Mine arrived in late April. I just potted them up and protected them from frost for the next few weeks. Because they are in Georgia, they tend to ship early. It's a great source for Southern gardeners who are looking to get their plants earlier in the year.

Hallson's and Bentleys are very good companies. I ordered from Bentleys when they were on eBay early last year and again from a co-op on Mamajack's just recently.
Hallson's I have a shipment coming in April and ordered twice from them last year.

This year as always I am trying out a new company who has no reviews, because someone has to give them a chance. Pick a baby company and give them your support. Thumbs up
This year it is Go Garden Now and I ordered two hostas and a veronica. Hurray! http://www.gogardennow.com/ ( I will let you know Green Grin! )

I ordered from Bentley's last year and I thought we got to tell him when to ship... I don't usually get any shipments until after Mother's Day to avoid freezing temps. I've got an order in this year with them, so I'll have to check and see what he says about shipping dates.

The first time I ordered from Bentleys they were on eBay, that might be where they got their start. Green Grin! Another upcoming company just as good as Bentleys was (to me) is GardenBreezeHostas. Last year I bought from them a 'Blue Ivory' it was around 20.00 but it was huge and had a bud on it, I almost feel out the chair, it was so beautiful. Lovey dubby

I got a shipment of Hosta's from New Hampshire Hosta's today and I was so disappointed. The hostas are smaller than the ones I got last year and the packing was terrible, reminded me of GreatGardenPlants.com Sad

Susan,
One bad person can ruin the whole company. Especially if that person is a part owner. You should complain and tell them that is not the way they did things last time and maybe the person who is messing things up will stop.
Doubt it but what the hay.
The ones I am sending you hasn't started to sprote leaves yet. To me that is the best time to transplant. Less shock into their new homes.
