How nice that you get to do some planting now, Trish! We're still in the midst of Winter... so it's still just dreaming and planning for me. Your soap sounds wonderful, will it be in your store?

Brenda- we won't be planting outside quite yet- Feb is usually very cold. I'll be using grow lights.

For my containers for the plant sale, I really should have started them even earlier, but I'm getting a bit of a slow start.

Yep- I'll be putting the soap in my store. Oatmeal soap should be made this week as well!

Comfrey and mint. A perfect combo that I'd never thought of. Mint will take the edge off that earthy comfrey scent. And the mint will act sort of like an astringent, I'll bet. I'll be watching for it in your store.

Seeds. Ugh. I'm trying to limit my numbers this year.
'Trying' being the key word.

My local customers love it. I had run out!
I'm also out of salves and balms....and extra hours in the day!

I hear you on the seeds. At first I said "none", I just don't have time. But of course, in this house, seeds are going to be planted whether I have anything to do with it or not! Then I got to thinking about some things that I really did want this year (like a row of lavender up the driveway), and how that would really kill my budget, and how that children #1 and #2 will happily take over the plant sale seeds once I get them started (for that matter, they could do the whole thing, but since they are also mine, I'm going to do the starting), and before I knew it, I had talked myself right into 15 packets of seeds! Eeeeeepppp- I better run and claim my grow light space before Dave starts those tomatoes!

You know, I have lavender that is about 20 years old. Comes up every year. Last year I was going to save seeds and plant more in another location, then talked myself out of it. Now just watch, I'll bet that 20 year old lavender plant doesn't show up this year.

I'm still getting ready to plant seeds here. Should have some coming in later this week or early next week. Lavender is on my list of plants to add for the bees here. I only have one plant and want a big bed of it.

The bees have been out and about this week while it was warm. Richard said looked like some of them were bringing something but we're not sure what. Sharon what blooms or has pollen in January in KY?

Trish be sure to announce when you add those two soaps to the store please so I don't forget to order some.

Could it be your junipers or some other evergreen?

I'll be sure to post here, and will probably put a blurb on my signature line when new things come up as well! Green Grin!

Thistle for one, Margaret. Lots of pollen in Thistle.
But our winter has been fairly mild so the tree pollen is probably still active too. I don't think pollen goes dormant Green Grin!

With the weather what it is, pollination probably still goes on.
That's my guess, probably not worth reading, but there it is.

My thistles aren't blooming yet, so I didn't even think of that.

I was down in Land Between the Lakes the other day, saw a bit of pink/lavender and stopped to take a look.
Thistle. Right beside dried goldenrod.

Very weird, but there it was. I didn't even have my camera, I was showing a friend a scenic drive on KY Lake.
That's the only reason I thought of it.

That's weird. We were at the property today & the thistle, although growing, isn't even thinking about blooming yet. Isn't that strange?

Trish, could you please post a link to your cubits store here. I tried 7 tried to find it over on cubits one day & couldn't. Oh, I know I can find it thorugh the T-shirt thread here somewhere but it would take hunting to turn that one up. I would like to bookmark your store over there so i can find it easily in future.

We've been having thunderstorms in January, so that's highly unusual too, Ann.
And the rose foliage is still green.
Daffs, irises, daylilies are all up.
Go figure.

I have a dear friend in N.C. who has been commenting on the thunderstorms there too & how weird it is in January for that. You know, in Florida we are used to having thunderstorms year round.

Hyacinths are also up here about 2 inches or so. I have one young rose bush with a full set of leaves still.
