Do you have a newly planted iris that you're really looking forward to seeing bloom this spring?
I'll start off with Joe Ghio's Aloha Spirit, planted a few months ago:

Nice ones Jan and Deb! Thumbs up

I think I can post one a day for the next few weeks. So today's pick will be Tuscan Summer. I've seen it in person at Napa Iris, but I can't wait to see it bloom here.

Debra, your Judy Schneider, is a good one. I love it when a hybridizer names a new iris after another hybridizer! Lovey dubby

So my obsession with iris started last summer with a pic of a flower seen on Facebook. It took me quite a while to find that one available anywhere; finally did it, though! In the time between seeing that first picture and purchasing a rhizome I found MASSES of amazing flowers to add to my garden, some with even more heartbreakingly beautiful blooms than that first one that caught my eye! Now I have multitudes that I'm so excited about for this upcoming year, several from a gardening friend here on this forum (you know who you are!), some purchased/some gifted from the Elmohr Iris Society (which I joined last summer!) and lots from various vendors recommended by you all here. So the flower that broke my iris block was:

Isn't she lovely???!!!!

Looking back on my purchases this year I know I'm going to have a riotous jumble of colors in my garden next spring/summer and I'm SO happy about it! No colors or shapes were off limits, anything that caught my eye made it into the basket, but there were very few solid colors that made the cut. I'll eventually figure out what I like, purchase or trade for companions that work together and move them around in my garden to complement but for this year I'm just looking forward to blooms and won't care how much each clashes with it's neighbor.

"A riotous jumble of colors" sounds heavenly, Liz Best.

I tend to be attracted to certain colors. Selfs, mostly - in the pink/
purple/ violet/ orchid spectrum. Form is a factor also, loving big, ruffled beauties. So after posting today's "really wanted"
Aloha Spirit, I saw a mixed color iris, Keppel's Space Signal, online here, that would look beautiful alongside Aloha Spirit! Next year.

Thanks for the great photos, Brad!

Liz B - Your first bloom season of "heartbreakingly beautiful blooms" will look spectacular Thumbs up .
I agree Aloha Spirit and Space Signal look gorgeous together.

I am looking forward to seeing "Buttered". There is one photo of it in Iris Wiki which I suspect isn't the best photo of it.

'Aloha Spirit' is a feast to the eyes and so is 'Starship Enterprise'. I really wanted to try Starship, but I got one of its children instead, 'Rainbow High' as it is supposed to be a better bloomer and grower, so I'm looking forward to that.

I'm very curious of how Garanzini's Amenhotep will look as there are very few pictures of it: http://wiki.irises.org/TbAthru...

The same goes for Bianco's 'Edilia': http://wiki.irises.org/TbAthru.... This year the main fan rotted, but maybe the increases is big enough for flowers next year. Crossing Fingers! Based on the only pic I've seen I love it. Wine-ruby veining on an amber/orange flower.

However my top 3 based on how much I initially lusted for them are these and they have a common theme as they share a lot in color and have an abundance of stripes:

William, I fell in love with Patchwork Puzzle from that Brad photo several years ago. You'll love it and Capt.
Thunderbolt and Mardi Gras Ball. as well! Super choices!

Edelia's a beauty.

Thank you, Jan. Smiling

I do hope they will grow well in my climate as well. I have a long time to go for getting a feel of which hybridizers that works best here, but for now it seems to me that Tom Johnson's irises are among the healthiest, so I shall have high hopes for both Patchwork Puzzle and Mardi Gras Ball. Some of Blyth's creations might be a bit prone to rot for me, but Captain Thunderbolt looks fine so far. Thumbs up

Jan ~ Your Aloha Spirit is absolutely gorgeous! Space Signal would be a nice compliment to it.

Debra ~ You are right about Judy Schneider. Isn't that the wonderful spirit of irisarians?
Sky and Sun and Baby I Love You would look nice together.

Rob ~ I LOVE Tuscan Sun. I just ordered it this season, so I'll just have to look at pictures of yours this year.

LizB ~ Starship Enterprise is almost as lovely as your story about it.

Liz ~ Twilight Rhapsody is a pretty fancy flower.

Robin ~ I like the blue beard on the sunny yellow flower!

William ~ All pretty choices, but I really like Edelia the best and Captain Thunderbolt next.

Jan ~ Thank You! for starting this thread, as it is a long time until bloom time.

Evelyn, I agree with everything else you posted, but I absolutely agree that Aloha Spirit and Space Signal would be stunning planted next to each other!
