So it is now fall and we get hit and miss rains...we do not get snow here in winter but we do get cold rain..can I keep these bulbs in their pots outdoors, or store them indoors?

My hymenocallis bulbs are starting to wake up this 2013..must have been triggered by the heavy downpour we got last Easter Sunday.

Great! they made it through your winter.
I have bought some new for this summer, but it is too cold yet.
I bought some of the white "Festivalis" and some of the yellow flowered "Sulphur Queen".
I shall cover the containers with large clear plastic bags---last year the magpies delighted in breaking off the
growing tips. None of those flowered.

I'm going to water and feed mine more this year and hope to see some blooms. I dug up the ones that I had in pots and will be planting those in the ground. All they did last year was produce multiple bulbs, no blooms.

I tried to dig them up last Fall, and it was so hard to do..so I just let it stay there in its container, just covered it with some leaves. We are getting some April showers again, so I know they will like it Smiling I hope it will give me blooms later once more.

Finally saw my first bloom stalk for this year! Hurray! Hurray! I thought my plant will not try to make a bloom, seeing it is running a bit late than last year! One out of nine better than none!

The leaves keep on growing after the flower is finished.

Oh that is nice..makes it neat. My plant grows its giant leaves first, then the flower stalks, and the leaves stays on till broken down by the winds etc.
