I haven't bought gardening magazines in a long time - too often disappointed in the content. I find that seed catalogues fill the void, offer a good deal of information and even, occasionally, an article or two.

And almost all the garden magazines do not fit into the Arizona climate, dry and using the least amount of water, and the best work around for that problem. Yeah...no gardening magazines here. Local resources provide much better info. Mainly in websites and blogs operated by local gardeners. We have a lot more offered to us now, than when I first took up gardening in Arizona. But still no good magazines. And like many, to me, there is nothing like the smell of a new book or magazine, and opening the pages to discover what's inside. But I think those days are long gone. I still buy books when I can get them at an affordable price, because I prefer reading a book over reading a tablet. But, when comparing prices of late, I have been downloading more books to read off line.

You are so right, seed catalogs offer a wealth of information! I especially like Johnny's Seeds catalog and web site. Smiling

I had the Territorial Catalog with me at my rheumatologist's office the other day and she asked what I was looking at. When I told her, we discovered that we are both seed savers.

I had to stop getting gardening magazines because I can't seem to let them go . I have several stacks , some from 10 years ago, such good information and ideas and photos.
Good for winter inspiration.
Once I do all the projects I have planned Hilarious! They will be heirloom magazines.

Heirloom magazines ... good one, Cinda. Now when I get questioned about all my stacks of magazines ... well, they're heirlooms, of course.

Thumbs up

When they auctioned off our landlady's possessions there were some stacks of really old magazines that went for incredible prices - hang on to those stacks!

Very true, Cinda! I had a pretty large box of Mother Earth news magazines from the 70s and 80s that I toted around as I moved to several different houses... every now and then I would get them out and look through them, but finally decided to advertise them on Freecycle and quickly gave them a new home with a local young family of "homesteaders." Felt good to part with them and know they were going to be enjoyed all over again!
