The mature buds are so light sensitive I can literally stand there and watch them open with the first rays of the morning sun. Just Beautiful!!

WOW orn. I have that lily and its just close to one of the top ones here. We had a really hot spring and summer 2 years ago and the blooms were patchy and faded looking.

Jo Ann; I guess color fade is the trade off for such beauty. The lily garden in the background is in constant bloom from early to late season. Very few permanant resident lilies in this mass planting. Most are rotated in and out on an annual basis and kind of goes against what we preach about good lily culture.

Oh, if you would just let my granddaughter out there with a pair of scissors!

I am famous for moveing blooming lilies when they are too close to others or the color isnt right.
I have been lucky and not lost any.

Yep--lots moving lilies. Many I pass to friends or move back into the back gardens, kind of on a one third, one third basis. Poly, I have a few 'tricksters' who use the scissors around here too--just glad they enjoy them!

Jenna has her own cutting garden, so she doesn't cut into my lilies from The Lily Garden, or worse yet, Lisas. She plants them herself, even helps pick them out of the catalogues. So, not too bad. Last year we planted some 'go with' plants, like babys breath. I think she'll love that. But if she saw a row like you have, hide the scissors.

Poly, how beautiful! Jenna will have those memories forever and think of them often later in life! You mention Lisas' lilies: all the more reason to take a couple scales for insurance and never take for granted that we can just buy another one if we lose the original.

I agree Lorn. I cant find some of the lilies I bought many years ago.
