I have nearly 2 acres that are what I call "Wildlife Woods". I don't do anything to them. The birds thrieve in these areas, so I just leave them alone. This is where all really ugly daylilies from my seed go to live. I just take the pot, remove the plant, set it on the ground(no digging here, too many roots) and push a little soil and leaves up around the root ball. If they make it, ok, if not they become good compost. At least they have a chance. I think I've done about 8 that way. So far, I've seen 2 bloom just the first year, but they are still there.
