Will Minerva and Red Lion accept pollen of the cybister hybrids Lima, Rosario and Chico? I will be sending pollen of these cybisters to a friend but thought of asking here first. Smiling

I can't say about these but the general answer is yes, these types will cross.Look in the "crosses" thread.I think there are Benfica(aka Black Pearl) crosses to cybisters.

For me the cybister La Paz accepted pollen from both Red Lion and Minerva and gave seed. The cross in the other direction failed four attempts this year.
But, anything can happen, I often try wide crosses.
Have you started saving pollen for future use?

Brian, thank you very much for the information. I will be buying half a dozen Red Lions and Minerva this coming hippi season for hybridizing purposes.

I haven't save any pollen yet but I am planning to freeze Chico's as I have one more scape to bloom. And Emerald is sending up a scape. If you are interested with some pollen, let me know, I will send you some.

Smiling

I have 2 nice seed pods on my Red Lion that I pollinated with a beautiful large white hybrid that just had a number, what colors could I expect to get from that cross, if I am lucky enough to get a few to germinate and grow.?? These are my first Amaryllis but it won't be the last. Green Grin!

IIRC red is dominant to white for hybrid hipps, but its the odd seeds out that do something new, looking for them is part of the fun.
Hey Lily, thanks for the offer! I have just one bulb left still sleeping, 'Estella' is a new bulb for me this year and is she taking her time. Emerald might be interesting to try on her, I'll let you know.
