Garden Scoots Are a Great Help

By patrob
February 11, 2012

Invest in a sturdy garden scoot. It saves wear and tear on knees and back, and if the handle locks in place, you have support to help you stand up. A basket or tray keeps tools handy or carries produce back from the garden.

Nice! I see they have it in blue! My favorite color! They only have it in green and blue, no red.

Just have to talk to DH and convince him that I need/want one! Thumbs up

I have a nice wheelie seat with storage space in it, I would be DEAD without it (or at least in a lot of pain!) I spent most of today on it, as a matter of fact... wouldn't be without it!

I have looked at these and wondered how practical they were. Do they work well on uneven turf.

With those chunky wheels it looks like they'd work for uneven terrain.

I started reading the reviews and some of the people stated that the tires smell bad. To the people who have one, what kind of smell are they talking about?

Oh, and for the record, those little flexy tubs, like the one they show in the basket, are GREAT! I bought a little one to fit in the scoot and some bigger ones as well. They're good for all kinds of things! The tops squish together so you can tote them by the handles like a big purse. Great for carrying things up and down stairs.

Love the pink seat! I've never seen a scooter like that. I do use a plastic stool about 14 inches high that does very well for me. I have a small kit of tools etc. I carry with me. Seems to work fine. Someday I may need the wheels, however! Thanks!

I want a Pink one! But, if I get one of those great Scoots I will have to be very careful. My new house is on the water and the yard slopes down to the water ... if suddenly I disappear from ATP it might because I rolled right into the water. .... which is kinda scary since we have gators. Crying

Um, I'm very much afraid that the pink is just what happens when red fades from the weather......but there's always spray paint!

I think we're going to have to find one with square wheels for Lin, tho! Hilarious!

lol My pink scoot was red at first, but I left it outside where the sprinkler using well water hit it regularly and "limed it up." The tires stunk badly when it was new, a strong chemical smell. I opened the box in the house and immediately took the pieces outside to put it together. My nose was nowhere near the tires! They lost the odor completely after being outside for a while. It's sitting in the sunroom now so I can sit on it while cleaning and sanding windowsills and baseboards and repainting.

I got a bunch of those tubs Woofie in different sizes and different colors! I love them and one can't have enough of them! Green Grin! Thumbs up

I figured that the pink seat was red when new, and faded from the TX sun, before Patricia made her post.

I've been wondering also, if the garden scoot is ok on uneven ground, which is what we have. Does anyone have it that has uneven ground?

I think the drink holder is a new addition since I bought mine, I don't recall mine having that (but will go and investigate!)

I'm not a real hillbilly readneck, but out in the garden I always use an old 5 gallon paint bucket turned upside down to sit-on, and sometimes a second one as a small table when I'm doing repotting.
I have seen some folks sit-on the buckets right side up with the hole on top,
but I think that depends how large and how firm your tush is.
