I had a friend from the US staying with us a few weeks ago and one day she asked me why I had so many chicken pots around. I was puzzled. Then I started looking around and I do have a lot of either chicken or dove pots. They are fairly common here and I guess I've acquired more than I realized. Here are some pictures.

This one I am trying to find out what the plant is, I think it could be Dieffenbachia wendlandii Schott. It's some kind of dieffenbachia but the leaves are solid green and I haven't noticed any striping on the petioles.

On the other side of our bedroom door is a regular Dieffenbachia seguina.

On an outside staircase is a Schefflera arboricola

This is my dove with an aloe tail. I need to pull some of the pups out again but it does look kind of cool with so many.

I think I have a couple more chicken pots in the garden room, I'll have to find some suitable "tails" for them.

They are quite common here, I believe there is a town or an area in Mexico that is famous for making them. I'm pretty sure we were there in our RV before we settled down and I bought a few, then I bought a few more here in the market and then I was given a couple more. I wish I could have real chickens, I like them a lot.

Perfect pots.

Yah, I'm wishing for some "real" chickens too. They just made up to six hens legal in Nashville for residential lots within the city limits ... so maybe there is hope for us too. Glare Green Grin! Green Grin!

No one recognizes the all green dieffenbachia? I was hoping to get a better idea of its origen.

I don't think chickens would fit in well here with our menagerie. We have dogs and cats and a whole lot of fish. So far the cats are not going after the fish often and when I catch them looking at them too hard, I sneak up and tip them into the pond. The ponds are all deep, the fish seem to know how to stay out of reach, and the cats don't like getting wet. Chickens though, that would be a tough one with my rescue dogs.

I've only got the variegated Dieffenbachia.
