More on the cosmos. They are going nuts and must be thinned. Whoa!

Edited: The pic was way too big, lol!
Here's a gaillarda that I found today. It must have been in with the ws seedlings that are planted all in this area. I don't remember sowing it at all...Ok, I completely need to label better or cut down on the ws mania.

What a lovely surprise to find, Bev (and nice photos). I think that is gaillardia "Fanfare"--love the unusual shape of the petals.

Thanks Linda. I have been out of town for the last couple of days. I must go out tomorrow and see if any more surprises have sprung up, lol!
You may be right about Fanfare, or it could be a random seedling. I had 'Tizzy' last year in a bed across the driveway, but it didn't come back. I don't remember having Fanfare at all. Weird. Hope I remember to get seeds from it whatever it is.

Maybe just a gift from the birds. Or the wind.

I got rid of my 40-some roses about 5 or 6 years ago. But this year I have 2 volunteer rose bushes.

I don't have any idea what kind they are, but definitely roses. Each is only about 8-10" tall now.

Your volunteer Roses could be the old heirloom, Dr.Huey, that is often used as rootstock for grafted Roses. Or possibly the invasive species, R.multiflora, that is spread by birds eating the fruit.

yes... I put them out March 22nd but they were in a clear tub that I drilled holes in the top, bottom and sides.. so if they germinated the frost wouldn't get them

Very nice, Allison! I grew tons of zinnias this year. Love the flowers, love the butterflies that have flocked to them. Double Click....yummm!
