Where have I been that I just found this Cubit? This was my first year to winter sow, I started the middle of Jan.
Here are some Fairy Series snapdragons I planted in milk jugs in Jan.
They are all just youngsters right now. I am hoping they will over winter here in my zone 8. Next year I will prune them back so they will be bushier.

Lynn, welcome to the seed cubit.

My snapdragons overwinter in my zone 6 yard most years, I'll bet yours will be fine. The wintersown ones that I posted at the top of this thread are several years old.

Good to know Karen, thank you so much for the info. I will definitely be doing winter sow again this coming Jan. I can't believe how easy it was. I have other things I winter sowed, will have to see if I have pictures.

Welcome, Lynn. Thanks for sharing those gorgeous photos--loved those snapdragons. I hadn't heard of the Fairy Series...do you have a seed source you would recommend? I often get snaps reseeding on zone 5, so I would think you will have great success with yours.

Teri--that hibiscus is just lovely (as is the photo). Is that a hardy hibiscus?

I did WS for the first time last year, and I'm hooked. I've been saving jugs all winter to do it again this year. Got my next door neighbor started, also.

I have been totally negligent of my yard in the recent heat. Taking a walkabout the other day, I found this baby, wintersown this year.

I got them in a seed trade at DG last fall. Teresa was the moderator for the trade. I believe the seeds where sent by some one from Japan. I can send you seed if you like. Not sure what colors you will get from the seeds however. : )

Karen, do you know what variety that echinacea is?

I won a plant at a recent MG meeting--I chose an echinacea "Virgin". Your photo reminded me of what I expect it to look like when it blooms.

I've saved some seed from my petunia "Pretty Much Picasso". Can't wait to WS these and see what turns up. Also going to try some seeds from Dulce Limoncello. I like unusual varieties Rolling my eyes.

My White Swan is getting buried by other plants... i need to move it.
I do like it though, nice that it's a first year bloomer too.

Odd thing about Snaps... i've tried a few yrs now, but no germination for me. At my old house, they blew across the driveway from my neighbors yard... had tons of them in just a few yrs, but have not had any luck at the new house. weird.

ValleyLynn - i think Theresa does a 'rare' or is it "unusual" seed, seed swap. I"ve never gotten in on that one. I dont think i have any unusual seeds to trade.

It was my first time to do a seed swap, and I was definitely not disappointed. It was an wonderful adventure filled experience, with seeds for all around the world. What fun it was.
I think every single snapdragon seed sprouted for me. I did them in the milk jugs planted out the middle of Jan. They have been drought tolerant for me also.

Terese, just my little two cents worth--All seeds are unusual to somebody. What may be common to you, may be just what another person is looking for. I took part last year (it was my first year and I was a newbie in every way) and enjoyed the different varieties that were shared. My common seeds were wanted seeds. I'm going to participate again. So please come join us. It's not too late.

Your right Deborah, I remember Teresa telling all of us that. She was so right. : )
I don't have a DG membership anymore, so can't participate this year. : (

Valley -- our "piggy" swap is here, on Cubits, Theresa's i believe is still on Dg. you can find us in Ellas Garden. We used to be in the Cottage Garden forum on DG, though most of us still are, but the swap is on Cubits.
