Cool. I've never grown it, either.

Well, did a little googling and found some pointer for Kiss Me Over The Garden Gate. Stratify for 60 day, Bloom is 120 days after germination. So I prepared two packs for stratifying. Since I want them to germinate by the end of March, I put the seeds in damp paper towel, in a ziplock bag and threw them in the freezer. I'm going to sow one group Feb 22 and the other Mar 22. I will start them inside with hopes that they will germinate quickly and I get blooms by July. We will see. I may prepare a wintersowing jug as well, but that may turn out like last year and they may take until May to germinate, which puts blooms in Septemeber.
We will see.

Wow! That is a long stratification period. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

Kiss Me Over The Garden Gate: Here it is. I have planted one that germinated in March by my arbour. It already has some flower buds and is growing great. I hope it gets to be over 6 feet tall.

Just got into this thread. I am waiting to see my Cardinal Climber looking like that. I've been away most of the spring helping out with my DD's new baby and my DH has been either drowning or underwatering my babies while I'm gone. I had better results with winter sowing on lots of plants than with the same ones that I had indoors under lights. The Verbascum Southern Charm and Bolero Agastache were among the many winter sown success stories.

I am waiting to see "Kiss Me Over the Garden Gate" also.

I have had great success with wintersown plants, too, for seven years now. I especially like it for perennials. They generally don't put on much of a show in their first year, no matter how they're started. But they (wintersown ones) grow incredible roots.

I have some new poppy sprouts in last year's containers that were just left outdoors and basically forgotten - I don't know which they are any longer, but they may well be the blue ones. I think I had sprouts from all of the others I started last year, so I'm hoping! We won't know until next year, I guess.

OMG!! I've tried so many times to grow those blue ones under lights as well as winter sow. So far, nothing.

Enjoy the Boleros, Allison

Me, too, Teri. That's why I'm hoping that these are the blue ones. It would figure that the ones that were left to completely dry out and be left for dead would be those, wouldn't it? ... Rolling my eyes. Hilarious! ...since it doesn't seem possible to sprout them with care! Rolling on the floor laughing

I agree

I'd really like to get these in the ground today, but I heard that it might reach 97 degrees today (??) Blinking so I doubt it would be the best time to do so.

Chelle, what do your sprouts look like? I dumped my entire collection of blue poppy seeds into a WS jug and there's something growing in there, but I have no idea if they're weeds or actual poppies. I've never been able to grow them either. Hilarious!

I'll go get a picture, but be forewarned, it ain't gonna be pretty! Rolling on the floor laughing They still aren't planted out and they're just sitting there, poor things. I won't even pull the weeds out right now, I'm afraid I'd kill them. Whistling

Hmmmm, here's what mine look like. I stuffed all the seeds in this jug some time, I think, around Feb. this year. They don't look like any of the resident weeds I'm familiar with, and you'd think if they were weeds, they'd grow faster.
