Mine are surely some that I've already seen bloom... Sad Hilarious! Oh well, I have more seeds, and I will remember to start some ...again (maybe... Rolling on the floor laughing ).

So woofie, did you wintersow anything else? If so, what were your results?

I have a feeling woofie might be a convert, wintersowing lots of jugs next year. Smiling

Nope. That was the only thing I tried, and that was sheer desperation. Hilarious! But there are a couple of other things I may try that with next year.

I won't consider them successful unless they survive being transplanted! Just moved them into larger pots yesterday and set them in a shady spot. My poor garden is a disaster area this year. Weeds everywhere and between the torrential downpours we had earlier and the blistering heat we have now, I haven't been able to do anything about them! The weeds loved that treatment and my poor plants have either drowned or baked. Sigh. But at least there are lots of pretty poppies growing in with the weeds! Smiling

I like that. nodding No matter how bad it is, there is usually something to enjoy. I'm glad I started a lot of drought tolerant plants this year...must have had a premonition of what was to come.

My *old faithful, and sure to bloom* filler plant is borage. I have some poppies, but not as many as I would have hoped for. There were a bunch up by the side of the house that dried up before blooming, but I think I saw blooms on about 80% of the ones I wintersowed. Thumbs up

Well, the one good thing about my garden being so shabby this year is that I won't be so hesitant to rip things out come fall! A lot of my problem this year is that I didn't do a good cleanup last fall because I just couldn't bring myself to strip things out; it all looked so nice......and then everything froze. Oops. Rolling my eyes.

nodding I'm guilty of that too...I'm not going to pull out a plant that's still blooming, just as long as it still looks nice. I wait until the frost gets 'em. The birds are happy with this arrangement as well. Big Grin

Ha ha, we don't get much of a transition period here. Frost seems to always be immediately followed by snow and frozen ground. Really hard to yank dead stuff out if it's soggy and frozen in the ground. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it! Hilarious!

Hilarious! Okey-dokey! Big Grin

I don't think our ground ever got good and frozen last year...so weird.

These are *jug* plants from last year...no way should that cardoon have been able to winter-over here, but I'm glad it did!
