I generally use disposable wooden chopsticks that come with Chinese carryout. They work well too. And so do pencils.

I generally use any pointie thing thats handy like the tip of the scissors I cut with.

I use whatever is handy. Twigs from trees, pencils are my finger.

I use craft sticks which can be inserted for shallow or deep cuttings; and also use them for planting small seeds in the pots, just press down into the soil, drop the seed and cover using the stick. A Sharpie ultra-fine tip pen I also use to make markers with the sticks.
