I'd more likely slide the tiny seedling out of the soil. Big Grin

I use a toothpick to try to ease it off. And I keep my fingers pressing the soil down around the seedling.

Kassia, your seedlings are looking good! My wishbone flowers have sprouted already, and a few impatiens, but not many of those yet. It's a beautiful day here..supposed to get up to 60, which is highly unusual for this time of year. The daffodils are already showing blooms.Sumpin' tells me that they are gonna gt zapped by frost Sad
Here's a pic of the wishbone flower seedlings.

Ooooh, I'm jealous! I found my old seeds and got them planted, but so far none have come up. Don't know how long they keep....

it depends.. I grew some seeds from 1999 a few years ago... some last a long time .. depends on the type and how they were stored

Oh, I know! I grew some tomatoes year before last from seeds that were dated 1987! Ha, ha, and I planted a bunch of them because I expected a crummy germination rate....nearly ALL of them sprouted!

I'm trying old seeds
Of 9 WSown jugs, I think 6 were old seeds
Indoor seeds- I sowed verbena that are probably 4 or 5 years old. According to this, they're only good for a year. Time will tell.

Ha! I plant whatever marigolds I happen to have lying around that someone else gave me! I've NEVER bought them! Hilarious! But the ones last year looked so nice, I want to grow them again this year. They were little short ones. Maybe 8 to 10 inches high? I dumped out all my seed packets last year and they were the ones that came up. Shrug!

Caroline, mine wouldn't be started if I didn't have the light set ups.We always get a snow around Easter, and no planting out until the middle of May, here.
Woofie, I broke down and bought marigold seeds this year, too, but only because I wanted to grow some of the Incas. They are the closest that I've found to my favorites, which were 12 or so inches high with big full flowers.I figure if they are the ones that I like so much, I'll not be buying marigold seeds ever again.
Green Grin!

I have never planted Marigolds from seeds... I am so in love with them when I see it at Home Depot or Lowes and I just can't help it... I am one of the few people I know that likes their scent... But you guys are getting me all excited about planting it from seeds this year... since this is my big seed planting year...

about older seeds: the Morning Glory seeds that have germinated are from 2008 and 2010 - the Cardinal Climber is from 2008 - they both have germinated... and they were just left in my garage...

Rascal is adorable, Cassia. He looks like youngun. How old is he ? We have 4 furbabies.I am going to have to put in earplugs, when people start saying that they are going to take their dogs to the pound, if they can't find a home for them. I just hate the thoughts of it.That's how we came by 2 of ours, but I wouldn't take anything for them now....they are our babies. One, that I took in was just supposed to be til I found him a home, but by the time I started looking, my DH said that we better keep him, because he didn't think anyone would love him, like we do..( he is a Bichon, and he isn't the brightest dog in the world, but he is the most lovable fuzzball that you could ever find). My husband is a bigger softy than I am.lol
What all do you plan on starting from seed this year? I usually start lots of perennials, but this year I am concentrating on annuals mostly. I have three beds that need divided severly, before I add many more perennials. I am starting foxgloves and heuchera, tho. I love foxgloves, and plan to add more, every year.
