Delosperma are very popular around here, probably because they don't need much water. Every nursery carries some. But Timberline nursery, the same one with many sempervivum varieties, also carries many delosperma that nobody else has. As they start to bloom, I'll try and get more pictures. Unfortunately it'll probably be with my phone's camera. I know they carry at least one that is a darker deeper color than Cooperi.

Perhaps you guys can help. I purchased a dwarf delosperma last year and planted it outside. It survived all winter, remaining green, even through some very cold weather, then dried up and died just in the last month.

Are there any that are zone 5 hardy that are dwarf like this one? It's height was only abou1.5" and I don't have an ID (or pic) for it. The regular ones I've seen in the local nurseries are too large for what I have in mind.

That's great! I was hoping to find out more information about general hardiness. Do you know it's hardiness level? I guess I need to do some more research. I like the color shown in the pic.

Twitch, I had one do that this spring, too. I had bought 2 different yellow blooming and evergreen ones rated for zone 5. One survived and the other did not. Our winter was really mild, but still. It was fine until spring.....

I don't think it was the zone, I think it was the rapid change in temps we experience this spring. Seemed like summer was here early they bam back to early spring. It did some small damage to my maples. I had some ice plants a long time ago and they lived a few years then gone. Same thing, early spring. I am starting to get back into them. I bought some from Mamajacks' sale.

I'm growing some as houseplants. Cooperi is the toughest I've grown so far.

I love it in bloom, so cheerful. I have been seeing many different delosperma here in New Mexico. Most are large leaved types, but the blooms are beautiful.

There's a gorgeous tiny little delosperma at my local nursery (Timberline) but I've tried it twice and it never made it through my winters even though it's labeled at zone 5 hardy. I can look it up next time I'm there.

If you manage to make it out my way (I'm at the opposite side of Denver from Sandi, Audrie and the Botanic Gardens) then you will probably want to do a road trip to Timberline It's pretty close to me. Which city/suburb are you staying at?
