Hi Polly and Lucy!
Still knee deep in orchids. Lots of transporting this week. I'll be clerking for our show on Friday. Meanwhile, my i. reticulatas are popping up!

Do great at the show!

Here I am again learning. So please teach me about a "walking iris". Do you need a greenhouse to raise this. I live in the cold climate, close to Chicago. Please let me know the latin name and I can google it. Thanks folks.

I've grown my Neomarica gracilis in an east facing window and now a south facing window for years. I water it twice a week especially when the heat is on. In the summer it goes outside on a porch. I live in Massachusetts and I don't have a greenhouse. BTW, you don't need the latin name to google it, "walking iris" works fine. Here's a nice article. http://www.plantingflowerbulbs...

A gringo?Where?(does a doubletake)
Hello everyone,
I have just obtained a yellow version of the walking iris that blooms every single day with a new bloom during its blooming season. I saw this phenomenon on blooms that I cut off another plant for my wife (ain't I romantic) & these blooms lasted for 3 weeks with sugar water & light.
I later acquired young plants which I am now growing. My question is when these plants are mature, how do I induce blooming in a tropical environment(I am living in Tumaco, Colombia in South America). I know with roses you can reduce lighting hours, & remove nitrogen from their plant food. Is there a trick like this relating to irises as well?

Many thanks,
Noel Calvert
