I had wanted to get Agapanthus - Headbourne but it appears it would not be a perennial here in my zone. So, I'm looking for something similar in height,bloom form, etc.
Any suggestions?

Some sellers are listing Agapanthus 'Headbourne' as hardy for your zone. I don't know. I left mine behind in CA but I'm tempted to try.

Are you wanting something with blue flowers?

I see it didn't make it in the bloggers zone 5 garden in the spring 2011 after all.I checked the website of HCG but they only have the hardy white. I actually was looking for the blue.Given the cost, I'd rather not take a chance that it would die out. I could pot it but first I want to
see if I can find a similar flower.

I have to edit this. I just noticed that Caryopteris clandonensis 'Dark Knight' is a shrub. Oh well, still looking.

I love that Lily of the Nile, I was going to suggest that but the one I googled said it was only hardy to zone 8, but park says 6?


Julia, I wasn't sure if you were looking for something clumping or blue. The Stella de Oro is clumping and the Caryopteris is blue.

How about some Siberian Iris, good to zone 3
