Yours looks like my previous picture, Chelle, and just like Riette's photo too. Sherry has a lot more variegation with her growing conditions, I think.

Spinach isn't for the kidney stone-prone. Happy I'm not. Green Grin!

I agree

The leaves on these plants are highly variable. Most of the ones I see here in the yard have a lot more variegation. The ones I thought looked closest to the one in question must get a bit less light, just as they might growing indoors. Smiling

Yours absolutely look just like riette's...they can make incredibly beautiful hanging baskets. I've seen them in very large, maybe 18-20" wire and moss baskets with the vinca trailing down a couple of yards and they're stunning.

I think you may be right about the Vinca. I don't have any close-up pictures of the variegated one I had growing in the garden last year, but it does look VERY similar. Sheesh, if I'd known it would make such a nice hanging basket, I'd have brought one in for the winter!

chelle, is this the first time you'll be growing the malabar spinach? If you've grown it before, what do you think of it? I may grow it for myself even if the guys can't eat it..

I tip my hat to you. We're learning too. It's so funny to see a plant a thousand times, and still not be able to recognize it right away! I use this plant in almost all of my containers as a pretty trailer, saw everyone's input and pictures, and still didn't "get it" until I walked past a similar shaped leaf in my garden! Hilarious!

Yes, it is. Smiling I'm not a very good "regular" spinach grower, so I thought I'd try this one. Perhaps I'll have better luck.

Well, we still have to figure out the one with the red stems. It's very pretty and I'd love to find out what it is!

Especially when you are thinking inside plants, and your looking at an outdoor plant being grown inside. Smiling I am finding more and more, that there are awesome plants from back east, that even though I can't grow them outside, they do great on the inside of the house. Painted Ferns, Bleeding Heart, Columbines, etc...

Yes, I have Vinca growing outdoors Sherry, but now I want to bring some indoors and grow it Smiling

I was assuming that was the non-variegated vinca, no?

I originally thought the issue was that there were two plants of the same type, one with red stems, one with green. So...two completely different plants? I tried looking up a trailing peperomia with red stems...found one with 'pink' stems....

Peperomia caperata has reddish stems but I've never seen a Peperomia with the trailing habit as the plant in riette's photo:

And I thought it had been mentioned that the leaves were thin, which would let out peperomia, wouldn't it?

Yes, sorry ... I must have missed that. Most Peperomia have succulent like foliage.

Somehow I thought you might have missed that; just didn't want you spinning your wheels! Smiling I swear, I keep looking at that darn plant thinking I should know what it is! Something familiar about it.....or maybe I'm just losing my mind? Hilarious!
