This co. sells the tubers as sunchokes I saw the seeds also from another site, problem is about shipping outside USA.

Hmmm, one of those links listed it as jicama, something sold in our local grocery stores. Wonder if I should pick one up and plant it; looks like I still have time (7 to 9 months).

unamaynot, maybe check your grocery store also. And yes, I've had things confiscated at Australian customs before, they're very restrictive about what comes in.

The Yacon is called Jicama in some areas, but the jicama in our grocery stores is a tropical vine and a very different plant than this "Yacon".
