Bluebonnets are blooming in San Antonio...and elsewhere.
These bluebonnets also include a few Golden-Eye Phlox, one of my favorite wildflowers
More Golden-Eye Phlox. I think the little asters are the Dwarf White Aster.

I've been eyeing some of them here, thinking I would try to collect the seeds and see if you wanted some lol... guess you won't be needing seeds after all! I may try anyhow, someone might like some.

Good idea! I think the ones here will largely be lost under the next growth burst...Trillium, Mayapples and all the rest. I'm seeing lots of Trout Lily leaves, but I can't remember what color they are. I've checked the same plant (with a bud) every day for the last four trying to catch it open.

I believe so, J. The second photo is most revealing; Claytonia caroliniana has wider leaves than virginica. Virginica has very narrow leaves, like the ones in your photos.

I've been going out about an hour after sunrise, so I guess they're not blooming yet?? The one I've been monitoring is the only one I've seen so far with a bud of any kind...still early here, I guess.
Chelle, I think the yellow-flowered one from the marshy area is a species of Ranunculus, but not sure which species.
