I found the love of clematis about 4 years ago and these are amazing plants. I think we've all met someone who says "I have a purple one" and those who have the 'addiction' can recall being that newbie. So many lovely clematis from some really great vendors. Here are a few of my beloved clematis.

Westerplatte

Negritianka at type 3 that is almost black, but a very deep purple. This happens to be in late evening sun so the 'puple' side comes out.

This is one amazing combo. They were planted together during my first year of being a clematis addict.

Lady Betty Belfour & Huldine - both type 3

A stunning color and one of my very favorite clematis. I have it planted with Barbara Harrington. She is Comtesse de Bouchaud a type 3

Galore - lovely but not among my favorites. I have 2 of these along my white fence. Also a Type 3

One of my very favorites and one of 4 I have is Etoile Violette, again a Type 3. This is an excellent performer for me in VA.

This is a 2nd Etoile Violette on my fence line - amazing how she flowered

Another very special clematis - one that brightens the garden and few people think of using - is a vivid white

John Huxtable - type 3

Henri - this one was a Lowes purchase which turned out to be a great buy! I love it's white purity. Look great against evergreens.

Prince Charles - not one of my favorites but I like the really vivid colors Type 3

This came as a seedling from a nursery. Not sure what we have since it blooms large flowers like a type 2 but later blooms smaller flowers like a type 3. The President comes to mind but we're just not sure but it's stunning.

Tye Dye - one that is often overlooked. I have it planted near the path to our back entrance. Everyone who sees it has to stop and admire the amazing color variations.

Venosa Violacea didn't impress me at first but she grew on me. The white really pops out in the evening.

Barbara Harrington ranks at the top - or darn near it. Was amazing the first 3 years and didn't have much to say for herself last summer. I hope she will kick in this year.

A must have Type 2 - Ivan Olsson is a large flowering stunner!

Fantastic Clems!

I hadn't planned on adding any this year, since I went Clem-crazy last year, but that Tye Dye has really caught my eye!

It's amazing. The picture doesn't do justice to it. I have it planted near a birch tree and it climbs over into the tree like a swag. Really a nice clematis and it's budding out like crazy now. I really need to get my self out in the yard and do some clean up.
