Just got this nice houseplant last night and got her name through the help of our plant ID thread. Just want to know anyone's experience growing this nice looking plant.

Wow, *no* idea on that one. Have you found anything out about her, yet?

Hi Sheryl, I only have what is on the tag that went with the plant, bright filtered light, water every week..nothing much..hoping someone else who have actually grown the plant can chime in..curious if it can go outdoors at less than 50F..our temps still swings a lot going high 60 to low 70's then down to 38F at night ugh.

I am a bit ticked off with Home Depot, they potted it in a vase with no drainage, good thing I re-potted it, it is evident it has good roots, but it should be in a pot with drainage..ah never really trust those big box stores a lot regardless how nice the pot they use for the plant they sell.

Hey, how are you doing at your area with the severe weather? Take care ok?

Shew, we were surrounded for a bit there, but we did fine. I saw a hail picture on Facebook this morning that reminded me of those kids play areas with all the tennis sized balls in them, only in white.

Neat plant, I like very much. What is this plant name exactly? I certainly would love to have one. Hopefully I will be Drooling Drooling able to find one or at least some information about it eventually.

My plant has adapted well indoors for the past year. Made some changes in its container last year:

But somehow I feel that the container is still not right, the base of the trunk seems getting too wet, so I got a bonsai container recently..and I think this looks better, more trunk exposed at the base. I think it will better for the trunk, so it will not be too wet during watering. Luckily the lower portion of the trunk has not gone soggy since I really have to let this plant approach dryness, before it gets its next watering. This one really prefes to dry out fast.

tarev: I love your Dinnerplate Aralia (Polyscias scutellaria): Balfour Aralia (Polyscias scutellaria) and that container you've transplanted it to! I keep mine on the dry side too but we've had a lot of rain lately and I really need to move them into the screened porch so they can dry out; I'd hate to have them rot away!

I had a solid green leaf plant for years that I kept to @ 5 feet in height. They will grow to 15 feet or more in nature! I lost my large plant to winter freezes a few years ago but I have another small green one that I purchased last year; none of mine came with cultivar name's. I've had some success with rooting cuttings of my variegated plant; when the green one gets a bit larger I may try propagating a stem cutting of it too.

Thanks tarev! After seeing the photo of yours in that pretty bonsai container I'm contemplating planting mine with the fat trunk into a bonsai bowl .... although to keep it dwarfed I'd have to be constantly root pruning and I know me ... I'd probably never get around to it! Green Grin!
