I live in south central Wisconsin, and it is snowing like crazy here. I have heard that snowfall totals might be as much as 8 inches - or more! by midnight.

Nevertheless, Spring IS coming - I am confident of that.

2 weeks ago, the migrating geese returned to my area, by the thousands. Today, I was watching their courtship/ mating rituals as I was driving by the fields.

Then just this morning, I saw my first group of Sandhill cranes.

No flowers trying to push themselves up in my yard, but friends are seeing this gentle sign of spring.

So, what's going on in your area?~Jan

We just had a lot of rain today, no snow.

I've been hearing the Sandhill cranes too, although I've never seen one other than in flight. The red wing blackbirds are back, and I saw our first robins today! Lovey dubby

There are new leaves popping out on some of the shrubs, pussy willows are showing, and bulbs (and weeds, of course!) are growing. Smiling

Chelle - you never see the cranes in the fields, because they are all headed up my way!

And if the red winged blackbirds are back in your area, they aren't far behind making it up to my area - hooray! ~Jan

Jan, I saw a red wing Black bird on Thursday, and I'm only an hour south of you, so it won't be long, but I bet he's wishing he had waited a few days now, lol. There were many huge flocks of geese going North yesterday, just a while before the storm hit.

Did you end up getting a lot of snow?

We have flurries here today, but it's not going to stick.

Oh yes, I haven't heard the exact amount, but it's at least 6 inches here in Southern Wisconsin. At least it wasn't tornados like the South Eastern part of the US.

That's a lot!

You're so right! Snow can be useful, even if scary to drive in; tornadoes aren't, they're just plain terrifying.

I too got somewhere between 4 & 6 inches Friday night, with another inch of fluffy stuff last night and this morning. But, I am hearing a warm up this week, which means.... that dreaded word: MUD.

Ugh,

Can't wait for the red winged blackbirds, I just love watching them. ~Jan

Predicted highs in the 70's for all this week! Thumbs up

The Robins have been back in full force here, along with the Kildeer. I spent the whole day digging in the flower beds, and oh was it fun. Took my newly sprouted pepper plants outside to get a bit of warm sun too. Rain tomorrow though, so maybe the grass will green up, and the horse pastures will start to grow!

I had a male cardinal singing and looking for a mate today. Mourning doves have returned, and robins are everywhere.

Bugs are back too - saw a bunch of box elder bugs on my front door today

And the harleys - they were out on the highway in large numbers - heard them while I was puttering in the yard ~Jan

Oh yes,, the "bikes" have been down our road quite frequently the past couple of weeks.

We have had 70's for the past couple of weeks. Our fish have been in their summer hime for almost a week.

I have had crocus for the past week or so.

Scares me for we can sfill have a snow yet till the end of April. My shrubs are all budding out and my magnolia may bloom for me for the very first time ever; I planted it spring of 2005 or 6.

If it freezes even one day and spoils that I will be so P*%**%&. Crocus from today................
