I hate daylight savings. I love having the extra light at night, but I have to be at work by 8, so that means I have to get up at 7 to get DH ready & at work before I can get myself in (we carpool most days). And since I'm already a night person, going to bed at "11pm" (my body thinks it's 10pm), then getting up at 7am (body thinks it's 6am).. I'm just bleh!

I was planning on moving those last 9 roses, but had to help my neighbor (didn't HAVE to.. but you know) move about 3 tons of rock .. raking rock sucks. I hate it. And then bagged up all the backyard waste. 5 50gal bags. The garbage people are gonna HATE me tomorrow LOLLLL but they're all in easy-to-dump containers & their truck has one of those arm-thingies that grabs the garbage cans & dumps it, so they don't even have to get out of their truck. I just don't know what to do with the section of the backyard that the dogs have access to. One of my dogs is a digger and I've tried everything to break her of the habit, but I can't watch her 24/7 when she's outside .. especially if DH lets her out all day to chase squirrels & I'm not home! I'm thinking about rocking in a huge section of the yard, but I hate having that much rock. But I also hate having that much weeds, too!!

One of my dogs started digging last fall, and I ended up laying those little decorative fence sections on the ground. you know the kind of section I mean? They're usually 5'-8' long, 3' tall, and pretty cheap. They don't kill whatever they're laying on and the dog doesn't like to run her paws over it. I found out something else other than my dog was digging up next to the house, and the dog was trying to get whatever the other critter was.
Our weather was drizzly and cloudy all day, but we're supposed to be in the 80's this week. I went ahead and pruned the roses since they were leafing out. Our last avg freeze date is April 19, but with temps in 80's, there's no slowing them down.
Anyone else cook their corned beef and cabbage today? Our stores have fresh rhubarb in stock and strawberries are super cheap this year, so I'm making strawberry rhubarb pies and brown betties.
I bought 18 strawberry plants but I figure the bunnies will get most of them so I had better freeze some of the store strawberries while they're cheap. Florida had such great weather this winter that prices fell.
This year I'm planting my most extensive vegetable garden ever. Hope the weather cooperates!
And I'm ready for my Palatine and Austin orders. I just hope they don't come the same week that my conservation order comes, since it has 175 shrubs. That would be too much of a good thing, I think. Whistling

I love your daffodils, they don't do well here. The little blue flowers look like "Blue Eyed Grass" that grows wild here but it isn't blooming yet (?)

They have been here forever (I didn't plant them) and each spring they bloom and then dissappear. They must be some type of bulb.

Yes, that seems more likely. That they are chiondoxa, that is - which is a bulb.

I wanted to order some 4 o'clocks today so darn near drove myself nuts trying to find a place that sells tubers. Been buying them for 3 years now but can't find the place I used to get them from. So finially just bought 5 tubers from Brent and Beckies because I could not find them anywhere else. Then I bough 60 seeds of red glow from some seller at Amazon.com. I do love the red color the best. I figgure I will start the seeds in some pots and just plant those tubers directly in ground.

OMG, what have I done?!?!

It has been a beautiful week here in New York, and my neighbor had one of her cedar trees trimmed yesterday. I stopped to chat with her while walking our new puppy, and she told me the tree service was going to shred the branches on site, and she offered me the resulting mulch for my garden. Usually I spend about three hundred dollars each spring mulching all the roses with cedar chips, so this was great! Lots of free mulch!

So I told the guy operating the mulching truck just to dump the chips in front of my garage door when he was all done. He said there wouldn't be "too much", so I didn't give it much more thought, and ran some errands. When I came back - OMG! If this isn't very much, then what's his idea of a lot?!

OMG is right! do you have space for all that mulch?
Wow. Is Craigslist active where you are? Maybe you could get a few people to help move it? To their yards, or throughout yours...
Wow. You need several teenage sons right now.

If that was my pile of mulch it would take me a lot longer than a week to move it.

Daffs are really blooming around here!

Yay for mulch!!! I need to get a tree service to go that for me... But I always get stuck moving it by hand and I use a 20gal tote to move it as I hate wheelbarrows (too many brick edgers in the way...)

I use something like this for moving my compost around the paths as I plant and top dress, easier than wheelbarrow for me. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004I96S1Y/

Calsurf73's garden is featured in the current edition of Flea Market Gardening. It's not an easy magazine to find, and the website seems to be in purgatory, but congratulations, Mike!

I've looked everywhere, Sue. I even looked at WalMart. There used to be a magazine store on 4th Street in Santa Rosa that carried everything, but I haven't been there in a while. It might be there, if the store is still there.
