Here is what I've started indoors .. planted 4 seeds each
Arctotis Grandis: have 2 itty bitty sprouts
Dichondra ‘Silver Falls’: 4 small plants doing nicely
Echinacea 'Double Decker': 4 sprouted, 3 are putting out new leaves, one got fungus gnats, isolated & treated it & it seems to have recovered but is half the size of the other 3.
Gazania Kiss and Tell: 8 seeds in 4 pots, 6 in 3 pots sprouted and are doing very nicely.
Geranium Summer Showers Fuchsia ivy geranium: all 4 doing great, all have at least four true leaves with new ones coming.
Heliotrope Marine: 2 sprouted, one survives, itty bitty plant but looks healthy
Lupin Morello Cherry: 3 sprouted, transplanted to slightly bigger 'pots' a few days ago. Existing leaves are withering but all have a new leaf coming.
Nepeta Pink Dreams: 3 sprouted and are still very tiny with weak stems.. I think these may be too shallow

Ooo, I need to do more winter sowing this week. I mean, I can sit here all day and say I'm starting these seeds but unless I actualy do it nothing will happen.......the goal for tomorrow will be to sow the rest of my poppies.

Another new thing I'm trying this year is Calceolaria mexicana heres a link to it http://davesgarden.com/guides/...

I haven't done the Calceolaria in 3 years and am doing it again this year. Hopefully the seeds are still viable.
Mine were yellow with little red centers.

I think they got about 24-30' depending on where I had put them. Will use them in a different application this time since I know what they'll do. They were seeds given to me and I grew them not knowing. The ones I have were very wispy and I'll use them as a filler this time, tightly planted.

Good for you for growing carnations, Steven. I had to give up on them here--the bunnies like them as much or more than I do. Are they difficult to start from seed?

All I did was plant the seeds and they came up so so far so good. No special treatment or anything. I didn't know the bunnies were so fond of them though....................hmm.....well, mine are going to be in a container and out of bunny reach. Hopefully.

I picked up a pack of these at Walmart and sowed a 6 pack of them on Saturday. Not many seeds in the pack but they were Walmart cheap.

Don't believe I ever saw a yellow zinnia before. Very nice. I got a package of pink ones I was looking for, at Wal-Mart last week.

Oh, I didn't pay $5. The Burpee seeds at Walmart, where I bought them, are cheap. They were $1.50 , but not many seeds in the pack, either.

That tray of mixed annuls that I sowed on Saturday - I have a sprout of zinnia starlight rose today. I also discovered an unlabeled 6 pack. I guess they'll be a surprise if they sprout.

The reason I said $5 was that is the price on the Burpee's site. I get those cheaper seed at Wal mart and Home Depot. Do they all have less seed in them? The ones I ordered from Park's are not loaded with seed. Just wondering!!!

I don't know if they all have less seeds, but they're a whole lot cheaper. And no shipping cost. Sometimes the shipping alone is outrageous.

Also new for me this year is the Versa Coleus series, touted to be the first ever sun tolerant coleus from seed.

New for me this year is Texas Hummingbird Sage--if they sprout.
It is a perennial down south ,but I am thinking it will be an annual here.
Anyone grown it before? Red flowers to go with red flax and Emilia and then something white.

It's only supposed to be hardy in zones 7-10
