Went to HI for anniversary and brought back a small root of this...they were growing everywhere, including the airport.
Who grows these? I'm afraid the little root is not doing too well Crying

Would love to get some in trade if possible. Thanks.

I used to grow them. I had several different ones, Red, Kimi, white, even a variegated flower... but I got rid of all of them because they are almost impossible to keep in check in the environment I had them in, and if grown in too close proximity to a lot of other large leaves tropicals they are magnets for scale and spider mites. Alpine purpurata grows like a weed if it is happy and spreads everywhere you don't want it to. You can look on eBay, people probably have some for sale on there. This was my Kimi pink in bloom

Thks @Gina1960.
The little red root died but my pink is growing, it's up to 4 inches. Then my brother and sister-in-law brought me back another red one in 4" pot and it's looking good.
