I just love nepetas. Sooooo easy to grow. I want to add some different ones.

This year I have coming Little Titch, which is new to me. Any experience with Little Titch?

Can anyone tell me which nepetas they like, and if you have pics, all the better.

Thanks, Polly. I took the liberty of making this a PPOTW. I have "regular" Nepeta cataria in pots and my in-ground fave is Nepeta racemosa 'Walker's Low'. That's all I have here just yet, but I know I will be getting or starting more this year.

Nepeta is a great plant ... I hope we get more suggestions of favorite varieties ... and pictures. I will definitely be planting more.

I have lots of Salvias and Veronicas but only 1 nepeta Walkers Low, I cant believe I dont have a photo.

'Walker's Low' is a great plant.

I don't know if a lot of people grow Nepetas yet. Do ya'll think so?

'Walker's Low' is long-lived and I think many of the others are as well. I grew Nepeta cataria first because I'm an herb grower ... and that led to the 'Walker's Low' and more to come. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I have the same two, and last year I added Dropmore hybrid. Walkers Low certainly isn't an impact plant here; the stems are generally pretty much prostrate, and bear just a few flowers at a time. The Dropmore was little last year, so I don't know yet if it'll be any better.

I do love their tiny blooms, but they're so low to the ground that it's a bit difficult to enjoy them.

Thanks. My Walker's Low was just bought last year (4" pot). It grew well, should be bigger this year. I was thinking of trying to propagate it this year. Looks like it should be an easy one to do from cuttings or layering in place.

Mine in the strip are Walkers Low also, and they stand up pretty straight. Maybe they are propped up by the irises.

My cats do not normally bother the plant untill I cut it and it releases a more intense smell.

This is a picture from a couple years ago when we got a lot of rain, it got tall and I held it up till finished blooming.
Don't water it , much shorter in a hot dry area, also better color.
My original plant has been divided several times and shared all over the gardening neighborhood.
The plant can be cut down to about 4'' after bloom to get a second bloom and keep it from flopping.

Thanks, Cinda. I agree that the WL looks better in drier areas.

I have a new baby. Walker's Low baby, that is. The plant is supposed to be sterile but I think this must be a reseeder rather than from a root, because it's one tiny shoot probably a foot from the plant. I'll let it put on some growth then transplant to another area.
