I got some great varieties in a seed exchange and also bought a collection from Lindenberg's Seeds (CDN Supplier). Zinnias are awesome to start from seed. Most germinated within 24 hours.

I started some indoors for an early start and will winter sow some more. Here's my varieties for 2010

Zowie Yellow Flame
Zahara Starlight Rose
Persian Carpet
Giants of California
Dahlia Fower Mix
Lilliput Mix
Cupid mix
Dark Jewels
Cut & Come again
Cactus
Pumilia Mix
Zig Zag

I'm trying some zahara starlight rose and the yellow zahara this year, too. I just sowed I think a 4 pack of them under lights a week ago. I'll probably do a couple of jugs of zins outside, too.

Zahara starlight rose. So far these look nothing like the commercial pictures which had a distinct rose coloring around the center. These barely have a little pink blush. They look white.

And Chris, (Ladygardener), I did finally get a few sweet potato slips to grow, shown here, too.

I started about 6 qty of several different varieties. They have grown very tall (top shelf on the left in the picture). Hopefully I can put them in the ground this week. The weather is supposed to improve. Today the sun finally poked thru the clouds

My Zahara starlight rose are also blooming; the rose color is barely visible. It's really more a thin line of pale pink on each petal. Plant seems healthy enough, and they were easy to grow from seed--just rather disappointed they do not have more color.

From a distance, they just look white.

Karen--your containers are beautiful, as always. My Zahara rose look just like yours--almost a plain white-off white color, with barely a touch of pale pink.

They're OK, seem resistant to PM despite the humid weather lately. They're healthy enough, just not the color they're advertised to be.

So far, I'm only excited about the Zahara yellow. Bought a few plants for my mom and those things are just covered in flowers. She's rarely been so excited about a plant. Perhaps we just need to try a different variety from the Zahara series.
