I have a number of pruners that have black handles. I'll be working in the yard, set them down, and wander off to do another chore. Then I want to use the pruners again and even if I remember the general area where I'd left them, I just cant see them.

Does that ever happen to you? Do you find it annoying or a little embarrassing? I found a solution that works for me.

I invested $1 to buy a bottle of really bright yellow nail polish. Then I put thick blobs of it on both sides of the handles of each set of pruners. Viola! The pruners are easy to see. Over time, I have to freshen up the nail polish but I'm happy to do it.

Ha. Now you tell me!! I just bought a new pair because the old ones were missing in action. (Why would manufacturers make these tools green?)

I like your idea and will use it very soon. Hopefully, before I lose the new pair. Crossing Fingers!

I think I did this about a year ago. I was at a Walgreens and just staring at the nail polish. A young clerk wanted to know if she could help. I told her that I needed a bright color to help me find my pruners. The shelf I was looking at had nail polishes that were kinda pricey so I was rethinking my idea. She picked up the yellow bottle (see picture) from a lower shelf and said that it was only $1and it should work fine. She was right. I don't even shake the bottle before using it. I just let it stay kind of thick and icky.

You know those zippy retractable things that apartment managers have attached to their belt so they can pull out an enormous ring of keys? I'm wondering if having the pruners attached to a belt or wrist would help us to not lose things?

I have tried almost everything to locate my numerous sets of pruners, spraying them with fluorescent orange spray, using various belt/waist attachments, I still can't find them. I will be weeding (happened already this year) and there were pruning sheers unearthed! I think they should start putting GPS chips in them so one can locate them via phone! LOL.

greene -- It might be nice to have a tool belt or a wrist thingy, but it's too dang hot to add to my 'wardrobe'. I already have to wear long sleeves and should wear a hat. (skin issues) Given up on the hat but often wear bandannas.

Frank -- Yes, a gps would be handy.

Yes, I have seen that. You wrote it. It reflects your opinion. That's all good. Thumbs up

Each idea posted in this forum will hopefully spark a conversation. That's what forums are all about - talking, communicating, bouncing ideas off of each other.

Whenever I have a genuinely new idea I write up and post a new idea or article to share. but I do not expect to control the conversation after I post my idea. It would be a shame to limit conversation in such a way. Creativity and ingenuity are naturally contagious - in a good way. Thumbs up

Since I often garden with two dogs on leashes, I can tell you having the pruners on a retracting cord attached to a belt or wrist thingy is a genuinely bad idea. Yep, when NGA did away with member-written articles we lost the ability to earn acorns. Now that we have this lovely forum in which to post and share, we have to bombard each other with acorns. Here...acorns coming your way! Acorn Acorn Acorn Acorn Acorn

It was, and there were a few after that too. Keep your eye on the NARR--every once in a while, there's an announcement there. Thumbs up

Love this idea! My new pruners have orange handles or I'd definitely give it a try.
