Yes, I start them from seed. I like the one T&M sells, Orange. The flowers are huge. I start them in March, indoors and plant them out late May. They can get a bit tough to keep to themselves. I like to put them (3 plants) into a 1 gallon pot and make a 3 stakes per for them with bamboo sticks.

I've wintersown them. They start to bloom a little later, but they do well.

I just got some from T&M Seeds and just threw them into a paper pot where I had planted zinnias that didn't germinate. Nothing yet. First time trying for me.

The pkg I have is mixed colors, so I may try planting some indoors and some outdoors and pick out the colors I don't want. The only other one I've grown got huge by the end of summer. A stray cat moved into my garden that summer and seem to think the vine made very nice shade for his chosen chair. Since then Simon has joined the family.
