Once Betty started posting pictures of her new spring additions, I decided to request some of ours to come now instead of early April. Our weather has been very mild and hope that it will continue. We want to share some of our new spring arrivals with you that came yesterday and today.

The first three came from Tim Bell (South Ga.) yesterday. We received Gilded Butterfly DF, Black Tie Affair DF, and Sycamore Fruit Punch DF as the bonus. Tim always sends great plants.
Thumb of 2012-03-15/Casshigh/97c09c

Today we received three boxes from Mary and Phillip Gaskins (South Ga.) They have always sent amazing plants. Pictured below are:
Venus Fly Trap DF
Here Lies Butch SF
Merlot DF
Blissful Blackberry Pie (DF) (Adding more fans, one of our favorites)
Grandpa Whiskers DF
Gyspy Of Gascone SF (Received DF)
Heartbeat Of Heaven DF (Adding more fans)
Heartfelt Challenge DF
Orange Cherry Jubilee DF
Victorian Garden Star Bright DF
Nona Of Gascone DF
Mort Morss TF (Received 4 fans, adding more fans)
Glamoureyez DF (Received TF, adding more fans)
Elvis SF (soon to be splitting into 2 fans)
Briar Patch SF
Big Red Wagon SF

The Gaskins sent as a bonus a 2012 Introduction, Sara Griffin Jackson RN DF, a white double that Mary has named for her mother. She said that they do not usually give bonuses. What that equates to is that we spent enough money that we got a bonus! We are thrilled to receive this new 2012 Gaskins introduction. We plan to visit them at their garden in May on our way home from the Florida Mecca.

I have the roots soaking in water and SuperThrive overnight. I will pot them up tomorrow and plant them in the ground once we are past any chance of a freeze. We expect early scapes from these new ones because of the mild winter and warm last month or more in South Ga.

We received an email today that our order from Floyd Cove should arrive Friday. We have also requested our daylilies from the Trimmers and Nicole Harry Devito. We'll show those once they arrive.

Doris

Oh those look great! and you got some great ones.

We have had a week of 60 and 70's. and the warm temps are supposed to continue through next week so far. I keep waiting for that final snowstorm, but each week we get closer and closer to the 'point of no return' with the snow & cold temps.

I requested all my DL to arrive in mid May because last year we still had freezing temps then, but goodness, if this keeps up, I may request mine to be shipped in April instead. I hadn't thought of doing that, thanks for the suggestion ~Jan

Thanks, everyone! It is exciting to get new ones. We are anticipating seeing scapes popping up on some of these soon. That is one reason I wanted to go ahead and get these before the sellers had to cut scapes to ship. Yes, we will post pictures. We are looking forward to seeing everyone's blooms in the next several months.

Those are really gorgeous plants, Doris! But I don't envy you the planting! I've been out there for the last three hours working on my Ladybug order -- and I still have two to plant in the ground yet today. And I only got a total of eleven plants!

I have been so busy working here that I have not taken the time to download the pictures that I have taken of our more recent spring arrivals until now. These are the daylilies that we received from our own Tink (Michele) from the Lily Auction. You can see the wonderful root systems of both daylilies and the healthy fans. Michele sent extra fans of each. We were very pleased with these daylilies! Thank you, Michele.

Next we received our daylilies from Fred Manning (Spunky) from the Lily Auction:

Loose Reins
Lillian's Alabama Sunrise
My Heart Belongs To Daddy

The Mannings sent extra fans with each with very good root systems. This picture was taken the day after the daylilies arrived which accounts for the yellow tips. They are all growing and putting up new foliage. We are very pleased. Thank you, Fred and Kathleen.

Yes, I got an order from them both and the plants were excellant. I've got some really good orange going to bloom this year and I can't wait. I've grown Alabama Jubilee since 1999 and it's still on the top of my can't do without list. I love it. It's one of the ones that I bought on my first trip to see daylilies in person. I'm so happy that orange is "in" this year!!! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Last week we also received Interview With A Vampire SF from Kim Langson (Clayhillgardens on the Lily Auction). No picture taken.

Yesterday we received Josh Jacques' 2012 Collection (his first). Josh is a young daylily grower and hybridizer from Louisiana. I think we will be hearing more and more about Josh in the future. http://www.bayoubenddaylilies.... I thought I had taken a picture but had not. He sent an extra fan of each daylily, and the root systems were all large.

Big Canoe

Mentor's Mark
Millicent Bystander

Also yesterday we received our order from Tim Herrington of Herrington Daylilies (Dublin, Ga.).http://herringtondaylilygarden.com/2012.html I did take a picture this afternoon of these. Tim and Josh's daylilies' roots soaked overnight in water and SuperThrive.

Today we were once again blessed with more fantastic daylilies. We got our order from the Trimmers. http://trimmerdaylily.com/ All fans were huge.

Dragonfly Dawn DF + 2 smaller fans
Frank's Catnappin' DF
Randy Stephens DF with each fan starting to split
Twiggy's Lavender TF + 1 small fan
Bonus---Fire Bird Suite DF that I had included on a suggested bonus list
Bonus---Sky Lab (Jane Trimmer 2012 Intro.---perfect bonus as I am adding TET UFs for hybridizing)
Thumb of 2012-03-30/Casshigh/d0026d

Also our order from Judy Davisson came today. All except one were ordered from her website. http://www.picturetrail.com/sf... I have admired Judy's intros on the Lily Auction for the last 2-3 years, but they always went for more money than I wanted to spend. Now, I understand why. Last summer I finally narrowed down the main area that I want to hybridize--tall TET unusual forms--which is Judy's specialty. Judy sent large fans in clumps (extra fans) with very nice root systems. Even her 2012 Intros were extra fans (clumps) and she advertised them as SF.

Aaron Brown 5F (Lily Auction win)
Wiggly Piggly TF
Sissy Pants DF
Lighthouse North TF
Al's Red Tower TF (HUGE FANS as those that come from FL)
Part Time Princess 4F
Till I Turn Purple 4F
Ready Freddy 5F
Riot On The Kindergarten Bus 6F (Dip)
Betty Spaghetti 4F
A Bloom With A View TF
Rev It Up TF + 1 small fan
Mean Green 4F
Deep Dark Secret 3F
Still The One 4F
What's Up Down South TF
Divas In Diamonds 4F
Judge Judy TF
Bonus---Tall Girls
Bonus---Addicted To Love (2012 Intro)

The ones on the stool are also Judy's. I added several of Judy's intros this past fall. I will be adding today's shipment to those. Guess what I will be doing tomorrow!

Mona, David really likes orange daylilies, so we have added more of that color. I have found that I liked pinks and yellows when we first "got into" daylilies. Then I liked purples and now seem to be attracted to reds. Naturally, we add the colors that we like the most!

Yes, I know what you mean. In 2007, when I bought most of my hybrids, I was "into" white. I had to have "Arctic Lace" and I still love it. I also got Victorian Lace and I think it's one of the best plants that I have. Now, I've got Red because I've always loved Red. And then there's Purple. I can not say enough about purple. Pink is so clean and elegant. And then there's the peaches and melons, couldn't handle not having them. So, as you probably know, all colors of daylilies are wonderful!

But, I love your new plants!!! I'll be drooling with the greenest envy when you post your pictures. Just looking at the plants with all those beautiful roots and sooooo green. I've gotten in the best plants of my life this month but if I ever got in as many as you got today, I'd be in Heaven!!! Ok, after I got them all planted, I'd be in Heaven. Have fun. They can soak for more than a day if needed so don't over work tomorrow!!!

Blessings to you and yours and I really would like to see pictures. Even pictures of them all potted would be a treat.

Thanks for all, Mona
