Is anyone spraying early for the Red Lily Beetle?
I usually wait for the lily to emerge but wondered if the beetle larve is early too.

Thanks for the photo Jo Ann. I saw a beetle very like this for the first time last year chomping away at the Fritillaria and Acanthus. What do you spray with?

The red Beetles have been at several varieties of plant life including what you mentioned and Solomens Seal.
I use Bayer Tree and Shrub insect killer for an early drench, then Sevin duering the mid season to kill adults.
If you drench for a few years it will cut down on the population.
Ihave been drenching for 3 of the 5 years here and only say 1 beetle last year.
There are other pests that make holes in lily leaves. The Red Beetle will destroy the whole plant.

Thanks Jo Ann. I had forgotten about this pest and with a bunch of new lilies this year I think you just saved me a lot of aggravation.

I fed my bulbs yesterday. Then I drenched the lilies for Red Beetle. I saw 3 beetles on 1 clump of srouts. That is serious.
This wacky weather has my schedual off. I usually do this job in April.
