I've purchased a couple of nice TB iris from a guy in Arizona--I think he is one of the very few sources for a really pretty one named Arizona Sandstone--Iris Melodies.com

Really great purple and love the veining on it. Very cool pass along plant. Wish I had taken some of my mom's iris when we moved from Conn. to NM. I haven't seen any like it and trust me--I sure do look at tons of iris photos:lol:

Yes, this fellow lives down south of the Valley towards Tucson in Vail I believe. I do not know him personally but I remember browsing through his website a few years ago looking over his garden and irises. He is very talented.

You have to be talking about Redheadclan. Not sure of his name -- Gordon, maybe? He was on the Irises Cubit last year, but I don't think he's been over here.

That would be him Betty. I'm actually corresponding with him by email right now about purchasing two new irises to accompany my purple one. Got to build that collection up so I have something to show ya'll next bloom season Smiling

Welcome to the world of Iris! They really are just as addictive as daylilies. I do plant most of mine in mixed beds. I live in NE where we don't have to do a lot of supplemental water of the daylilies, so that makes a difference. I also do all hand watering with a hose, so can control somewhat where the water goes when I do water. Your purple with the white beard is beautiful.

Thank you Susan! I too water by hand though I probably need to invest in a watering system. During the summer I have to water just about everyday. Takes up a lot of time, I enjoy it but it competes with my work schedule.

Water towers are wonderful. Just hook the hose to them and let them go where you want, and then move the tower to the next area.

Eleanor Roosevelt is an IB (less than 24 inches tall) and is said to have a slight fragrance. Also seems to rebloom for some folks. Sass-McDade 1933. Sharp plant!

Welcome! Jake! Your NOID iris is lovely, whatever it is! And I'm loving Indian Hills as well. Gotta add that one to my (long) list!
