Ann - I was given the iris by a friend and she said it was Spuria iris, but she didn't know the name. I think you have the same one as i do...Anyway it looks awesome in your garden.

OH Ann, You are so enabling. Why did you post that link to the crinums?????? I'm in love again. I grow white ones and pink ones. I also have one that has a small pink stripe, but it's not as pretty as the others. It seems to be nocturnal.

there are some at the Marcelles site that I'd love to have, really love to have.
RATTRAYII , School Bells is to die for. I'm saving for this one now!!! Maybe by the time I get the money, she'll have the stock. White Mogul and White Queen are so glamourus. Temple Bells is so pretty.

You are so bad, bad bad for giving me this site info. Whistling Whistling Whistling

Lyle, thanks for the conformation that the white iris is a spuria iris. It is quite tall and looks good toward the back of the border. Mona, I think you are addicted to all plants! I genuinely appreciate someone like Marcelle who has devoted so much of her life to this one flower. I also appreciate her generosity in giving seeds away just for postage. I am SOOoooo happy with mine now that they have matured. They remind me of an agave except that the leaves curl under some. BIG plants.

I'd love to see more pictures of yours when you can. It's so pretty.

Yes, I'm afraid you know the truth. I'm guilty of loving most all of God's gifts to us gardeners. Except maybe Bermuda grass and fungus gnats. they need to go to the golf courses and leave me alone!

I got my first crinum lily when I was only about 7 or 8. An uncle that passed away that same year, planted a crinum lily for me. It was my first flower. The white ones I have are part of it. That was over 50 years ago.

Your plants are so gorgeous. Thanks for sharing all of them. Mona

The Spuria looks like a picture of Iris Orientalis Spuria. What size is the blossom?

Hi, Ann
Your gardens are so beautiful. I grow Black Gamecock L. Iris. I believe that is what yours may be also. I grow a variety of perennials. It keeps things interesting, my goal is to have something blooming as many months as I can. This year the hellebores started blooming late Jan. so I should have several months of blooms before frost.

I had some La. Iris where I lived before. I sure did like them and if I ever move where I can have some more I will get some.

Teresa, I have the one you posted, but I think it has a larger bloom than the one I posted. The leaves on the one I posted do something weird. The leaves crinkle up, almost in a pleat toward the tops of the leaves. I have grown it for many years ans it does this every year. I need to get rid of a bunch of the one I posted and the one like Teresa's. They do multiply!

The winter was so mild here that I had something blooming every month of the year. That doesn't happen every year, but some things like winter jasmine and the hellebores started blooming very early.

Shirlee, thanks for trying to find a name for the spuria iris. I also did a little research on them and saw several white ones. I guess it is just like daylilies - there are so many registered ones that it is virtually impossible to identify from a photo.

Les, if you do all my weeding, I will be happy to design a garden bed for you. Doing the design and researching the plants is the fun, not all the weeding, etc.

Thanks to all for viewing and taking the time to comment.

I took more photos of the jumbo crinum lilies for Mona. The jumbo crinums have a blue/gray foliage and I love them for their architectural structure. They are certainly large, but very stately in appearance. My other crinums have green shiny foliage.

This is a photo of the one I posted earlier, but I tried to show the growth habit of the plant. It is about two and a half feet tall and probably that wide as well. I love how the leaves curl under.

This is a different jumbo crinum in another bed, probably two feet tall.

I have a crinum lily and I don't like it, it takes up too much room in my little flower bed.

I LOVE the pink oxalis, I have some but it is not prolific for me, I have tiny little clumps of it. The purple oxalis does better for me with the heat here. Thanks for posting all your pictures.

Every time I see your pond I just want to sit down and sit there all day and feed the fish and look at the flowers. You are SOOOOO lucky, well of course you work hard to maintain it, but your garden just looks like a picture.
Hurray!

Beautiful Ann. I love the crinums. Really really love them. I'm going to do my best to get me atleast one of these. The lady that sells thems has what I thought great prices on the ones that aren't brand new.

Your garden is so pretty, Ann. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.
