Grasshoppers are beneficial insects!
They can eat vegetation that is toxic to farm animals, they provide a main source of food for spiders, lizards and birds.

Lee Ann, I know the birds and spiders eat the grasshoppers, but I didn't know about the grasshoppers eating toxic vegetation harmful to farm animals, that's very interesting. I do not use pesticides in my garden.

no....and I won't. ever. Grasshoppers are welcome in my gardens.

ok...so what happens when you poison a grasshopper and a bird/lizard/frog comes along and eats it? You end up with poisoned wildlife. Are you going to go out every day and collect the poisoned grasshoppers so nothing eats them?

That's why I asked if anyone has experience with this. The company advertises it as "organic" and "not harmful".

What happens when grasshoppers eat all the crops where people are starving? There are too many scenarios to debate. And that wasn't the point of the question.

This is the Gardening FOR Wildlife forum. I mean, you wouldn't, I hope, go to a Pet forum and ask them how to poison the neighbors cat that's using your garden for a litter box...maybe try the All Things Plants forum or one of the regional forums...?
