Lots of errors, most of the nurseries listed are no longer in business.

Furthermore, a lot of them didn't exist even when the article was first published. Smiling

I wasn't looking at the nurseries & availability as the article is sooo old (3 years 2009), but rather the how/why he got started in Roses.

I enjoyed the article. It helped me understand something of the heritage of Buck's roses and what makes them unique.

Some of you may think Sue and I are being unpleasant in our reactions, but someone (I think it was Melva) informed the author of the misinformation in the list of sources when it was first published, and instead of doing something constructive about it, he simply added the notation that the list might be out of date.

I went through a Buck phase and had oddles of them.
For my rural Z5 setting most did not do that well
which did not surprise me because a lot of them
have Hybrid Tea rose parents.
I was in love with many of them with their colorful
or stripled blossoms like Spanish Rhapsody & Freckles.
I envy those of you who can grow them.
One in peticular that has done very well out here in the boonies
is the pink, single blossomed Apple Jack.
Its a huge shrub at least 6 x 6 and blooms very well thoughout the growing season into fall.

Apple Jack. It's been a while since I've heard of anyone growing that. Long ago it was offered by ARE and I planted it. But I moved before it did anything. Does the foliage have delicious green apple scent or is it just the blooms?
