The Luffa operculata is the round luffa, sometimes called "Wild cucumber".

Has anyone grown this? We'd like to give it a try but are having a hard time finding seed!!!

I have not grown them, but I remember that one of the places I buy seeds has had them in their catalog. If you go to this link, there is one place to click for seed - the rest are products made from luffa. The don't give the scientific name though...??? Shrug!

Is that the same wild cucumber that I've got growing all over the place? If so, I can maybe help with seeds Big Grin

They're awful small though...

Thanks both of you.

Juli, it looks like Pinetree is just selling the regular elongated luffas.

Lee Anne, I'm not sure about that, actually. I'll talk to Trish (who is the one who is wanting these!) and see if that sounds right to her.

I put some old seeds to soaking yesterday then put them in a germination test napkin today. If they show some promise I'll be in touch, Dave and Trish.
