Generally used as rabbit feed and to feed other animals. Get them at a feed store. I use them on roses, iris, and hostas. They also make a great alfalfa tea for plants. Check to see they are just alfalfa without additions.

Thanks Paul, I am trying to get rid of a rabbit right now but I can use it around roses and stuff he don't mess with. So if you make the tea could you use it on houseplants also?

Alfalfa Meal or Pellets
Alfalfa meal or pellets are often used as animal feed. Primarily they are used to increase organic matter in the soil but do offer nutrients and a high availability of trace minerals. They contain trianconatol, a natural fatty-acid growth stimulant.
Alfalfa Meal or Pellets
Typical NPK analysis 2-1-2
Release time 1-4 months
Pros Available at feed stores
Cons May contain seeds
Application Till in 2-5 pounds per 100 square feet
Looks like a decent organic fertilizer. What does it cost? I use Soy Bean Mean (7-2-1) at a cost of $15 per 50 lb bag at the local feed store.

I was told this by a hosta breeder in Ohio. He said you can get two years growth from one year using this. I bought mine as Alfabits for horses. It was pure Alfalfa Meal. I can't get them any where near me now. The place I used to buy them closed down. If possible rabbit dune is suppose to be even better. I don't have any way to get that.
I was afraid if I used too much, It would draw mice or moles in my garden.

I plan to put some down once our weather settles down a bit more. I get mine from Tractor Supply store. I also use them for other plants, ie daylilies, clematis, etc. They just love the tea mix but goodness it does smell for a day or two.

I can handle the smell long as I don't step in none.

LOL I remember when I did step in some while walking thru a pasture we were on a tour which stoped at the LBJ ranch in Texas. EWWW stinky! I grew up on a farm so should have been paying attention where I was stepping. When we used to complain about the smell of manure my dad would always say 'it smells like money'.
I am going to be sprinkling alfafa pellets on my hostas as soon as the dayllilies and other plants get their share. I have done this several times over the years plants love the alfafa. I just popped into take a look at this forum there are maybe a dozen hostas in my garden.
If you want to be happy for a lifetime plant a garden!
Faith is the postage stamp on our prayers!
